7 Teen Drama Boyfriends We Want (& 3 We’d Avoid) | ScreenRant

While teen drama TV shows feature classes full of homework and tests, families in their homes, friends going through life together and important topics such as dating, bullying, alcohol, and mental health, they spend a good amount of time focusing on love lives.

There are breakups, hookups, crushes, kisses, and sometimes even weddings for meant-to-be couples, and over the years, fans have surely had their favorite and least favorite boyfriends from this genre. That being said, here are the seven teen drama guys that we would want to date, as well as three that we would just probably try to avoid.

10 Want: Lucas Scott

First up is Lucas Scott from One Tree Hill. This character was played by Chad Michael Murray, and this show was on from 2003 to 2012.

Lucas was a star basketball player, as well as a lover of books, making him doubly talented and interesting. As his girlfriend, one would get to cheer him on during games, have deep discussions about literature, and be the envy of every other girl in school.

9 Want: Dawson Leery

On Dawson's Creek, which ran from 1998 to 2003, Dawson Leery was a dreamer; he loved movies and sort of felt like his life was one. This meant that when things went “off script” and curveballs came his way, he sometimes didn’t know how to deal.

As his story progressed, though, he learned coping mechanisms and really matured. This strength and growth, combined with his creative mind and sweet soul, have earned him a spot on the want list!

8 Avoid: Archie Andrews

In 2017, Riverdale premiered, and though it is based on Archie Comics, it has a much darker vibe to it than the comic books. Therefore, Archie Andrews doesn't seem quite as date-able as some other teen heartthrobs.

Sure, he has his positive traits, as every other character does. But being with him would bring along a lot of creepy drama, as well as romantic drama (who wants to compete with Betty and Veronica?), and it would be wise to simply avoid it.

7 Want: Seth Cohen

Seth Cohen, portrayed by Adam Brody, was on The O.C. between 2003 and 2007, and he was a bit of a geek. However, these types can make for the best significant others!

First, they are usually sort of shy, with soft and sensitive sides. Secondly, they have unique hobbies, which can either be shared or can keep them from getting into trouble. So dating this cutie would have come with several benefits.

6 Avoid: Dan Humphrey

Dan Humphrey was on Gossip Girl between 2007 and 2012, and he is one to avoid. Yes, he did have a nice family, he was a talented writer, and he did have a romantic side that led to special dates and moments.

However, he was Gossip Girl, and even the people closest to him were not safe when it came to having secrets blasted out to the world!

5 Want: Harvey Kinkle

Another Archie Comics character is Harvey Kinkle, who dates the main character from Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Sabrina Spellman. He is like the poster child for the boy-next-door type with his friendly personality and supportive vibe.

Even when he has to put up with the dark magic, the secrets and the other man in Sabrina’s life, he remains calm and kind.  Being on his arm and cheering him on at Baxter High would be super adorable!

4 Avoid: Stefan & Damon Salvatore

The Vampire Diaries was on the air between 2009 and 2017, and it starred Paul Wesley as Stefan Salvatore and Ian Somerhalder as Damon Salvatore. Oh, and these two were vampires, as well as brothers.

And while that may sound intriguing, it certainly made for some complicated love lives; they were involved in a love triangle, and they were constantly having to fight off supernatural forces and beings. That just doesn’t sound like it would make for a healthy relationship. Furthermore, having to choose between them would be nearly impossible.

3 Want: Brandon Walsh

Next up is Brandon Walsh from Beverly Hills, 90210. Played by Jason Priestley, this character was a genuinely good human, with morals, a friendly disposition, and a sort of hero quality to him; he was that guy that all the other dudes wanted to be and all the girls wanted to be with at school.

Looks, smarts, popularity, kindness… he had it all and certainly belongs on this list!

2 Want: Vince Howard

During Friday Night Lights’ run between 2006 and 2011, Vince Howard, a character portrayed by Michael B. Jordan, was introduced. He was a gifted athlete who joined the team and helped secure some wins. However, it all went to his head, and he became a bit arrogant.

As the series went on, he noticed and fixed his mistakes on the field and at home, showing maturity and strength. Plus, just look at him… he is another one everyone want!

1 Want: Caleb Rivers

Last but certainly not least is Caleb Rivers from Pretty Little Liars. While on the air from 2010 to 2017, this series focused on a group of friends, including Hanna Marin. When a new bad boy-type moved to town, he caught her eye and proved to be very helpful, as he was technologically talented.

Their relationship had its ups and downs, but no matter what happened, Caleb was understanding and supportive, and they could not have defeated A without him. Having someone that passionate, attractive, and gifted would be a dream come true!
