Bachelorette: New Promo Shows Clare Demanding Respect, But Still No Tayshia

Ahead of the October 13 premiere, ABC is finally starting to promote Clare Crawley's season of The BacheloretteBut even though rumors of Tayshia Adams replacing Clare midway through the season have basically been confirmed, no promos have addressed Tayshia's Bachelorette journey. Are the producers trying to keep her presence on the show a secret?

Before the nationwide lockdown due to COVID-19, Clare Crawley was announced as the new Bachelorette. Although her season was supposed to start filming right away, the lockdown forced a delay. Months after the announcement, Clare began filming her season at the La Quinta Resort & Club in Palm Springs. But just 12 days after filming began, rumors began circulating that Clare had already fallen for one of her guys, Dale Moss. Rather than continuing with the rest of the season knowing Clare wasn't invested, the producers allowed Clare to choose Dale and brought in Tayshia Adams as a new Bachelorette. Since then, both women have been spotted filming at the resort, but ABC has not formally announced Tayshia as the new lead.

It seems the network is dedicated to keeping viewers in the dark about Tayshia's appearance on this season. Ahead of the October 13 premiereABC has started releasing promos for the upcoming show. However, all promos focus solely on Clare. On August 31, The Bachelorette crew revealed the first video promo for Clare's season. In the clip, Clare struts through a field of rose petals while a Keke Palmer cover of Aretha Franklin's "Respect" plays in the background. As Palmer sings about respect, clips play of Clare on Juan Pablo's Galavis' season of The BachelorWhen Clare felt Juan Pablo disrespected her and the other women on the show, she had no problem telling him off. Amidst the music and the clips, a voiceover from Clare says, "I've been down this road before. I want respect." Watch the full video for yourself below:

While the promo video certainly serves the purpose of getting viewers excited for the new season, it also makes it clear that ABC is promoting Clare as the sole Bachelorette. As she kicks around rose petals, the promo ends with Clare standing in front of a rose-covered sign spelling out her name. The promo doesn't even remotely address the practically confirmed rumors that Clare ended her season after just a few days. While ET confirmed that both Clare and Tayshia's journeys to find love will be featured on the upcoming season, the network refuses to make any mention of Tayshia.

It's possible that ABC and The Bachelorette producers want to keep Tayshia involvement somewhat of a surprise. Despite the fact that most avid fans of the show are already aware of the switch, Tayshia replacing Clare will probably be used as the big twist of the season. Not only that, but fans are also unclear on what exactly is going on. Besides Tayshia, many other Bachelor Nation alums have been spotted at La Quinta Resort, including Hannah Ann Sluss from Peter Weber's season and former Bachelorette Becca Kufrin. Perhaps by keeping things focused on Clare, the producers might be able to maintain an element of surprise in a season that's unlike any other.
