Chinese Zodiac: 5 Netflix Originals An Ox Will Love (& 5 They Will Hate)

The Chinese zodiac is one of the most interesting astrology systems in the world. The signs are divvied up by year, and the sign of the Ox is the second in this series of twelve signs. The Ox is known for being incredibly strong, steadfast, diligent, patient, and hardworking. While they aren't the most ostentatious of signs, they are definitely one of the strongest and most reliable.

And it comes as no surprise that these powerful personality traits influence what those born under the sign of the Ox like or dislike. So with that in mind, which Netflix originals would an Ox sign hate, and which would they love?

10 Love: Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

The Ox zodiac sign is aptly represented by one of the strongest and most stable animals in the entire animal kingdom, so it makes sense that Ox signs would enjoy a series like Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

While the premise of the series is downright depressing, Kimmy's unflappable joy and willingness to assimilate back into the world is something that the Ox will find both relatable and hilarious.

9 Hate: Hemlock Grove

Hemlock Grove is essentially the even wilder and weirder spiritual successor to True Blood. This vampire series starts off on a strange foot and only gets stranger, and it really leans into the campier and more absurd sides of it's story.

That level of silliness is not going to appeal to the Ox at all, and this Chinese zodiac sign leans towards nobility and dignity, something that is severely lacking in Hemlock Grove.

8 Love: Marriage Story

Although Oxen can enjoy fantasy, they are really drawn to more down to earth dramas or comedies that feel real to them and thus can touch them on a deeper emotional level.

A perfect drama for the Ox, then, is Marriage Story. This heartfelt and soulful film about the deterioration of a marriage is nuanced and complex, and even the most steadfast Ox will find themselves being moved by it.

7 Hate: The OA

The OA is one of the more off the wall and artsy projects that Netflix has dipped it's toes into, and while it's a fantastic series in it's own right, it's far too esoteric for the Ox to get invested in.

The OA is grounded much more in philosophical ideas than it is in a straight story, and the Gordian knot of mysteries will be frustrating to an Ox sign.

6 Love: Unbelievable

Despite the fact that the title of the series would obviously indicate otherwise, the Netflix original miniseries Unbelievable is about the true story of some exceptionally skilled cops who catch a serial rapist, and about the shocking story of one woman who was attacked by this man and was not believed (she was even charged with filing a false police report over it).

This series is irrefutable proof that often times stories of real people are more interesting and admirable than any fiction.

5 Hate: Stranger Things

Stranger Things is a fun and nostalgic series, and it's success has become a defining aspect of Netflix originals as a whole. However, there is plenty for the Ox to dislike about it.

While the nostalgia factor is a big draw for any Ox, the fact that the characters in the series are constantly running around with no plan and often times no ideas will frustrate the diligent Ox to no end.

4 Love: El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie

When Netflix announced that they were going to do an original movie that offered a conclusion to Jesse Pinkman's Breaking Bad story, expectations were high. And luckily, El Camino fulfilled those expectations.

While Walt's story conclusion was enough to satisfy any Ox, the detail oriented zodiac sign will love getting to see exactly what happened to Jesse after the conclusion of the TV series as well.

3 Hate: Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina

Again, the Ox signs of the zodiac aren't necessarily averse to fantasy, however any movie or TV series that involves characters getting into massive trouble on account of their inability to plan or think ahead will drive them nuts.

And unfortunately, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is full of characters like that. Sabrina Spellman is a plucky little badass, but she always gets in over her head and does things without thinking.

2 Love: The Crown

Historical drama is something that is naturally appealing to any Ox sign, and there is probably no better historical drama in the world than Netflix's The Crown.

This compelling but true story of the history of the English royal family is the metaphorical crown jewel of Netflix originals, and there is nothing about this series that any traditional Ox is going to dislike.

1 Hate: The Umbrella Academy

The incredibly quirky and weird superhero drama The Umbrella Academy is only moving into it's second season on Netflix, but it's really not the kind of thing that most Ox signs would be interested in.

It's the story of a bunch of adult siblings with superpowers who can't pull it together and become the heroes they're supposed to be, and one of them actually inadvertently destroys the world. It's just way too off the wall for the strait-laced Ox.
