First Look at the Batcave In The Batman Official Images

New images of Robert Pattinson in The Batman have been released online. Now that Ben Affleck has (mostly) left the role of Batman behind, director Matt Reeves has been put in charge of taking the character in a new direction. His vision for the Dark Knight will see Pattinson play a version of Bruce Wayne, who is in the early days of being Batman.

The exact plot details of The Batman have so far been kept under wraps, but that hasn't stopped Matt Reeves from continuing to provide fans with new looks at the movie. An official costume reveal of Pattinson in the Batsuit came at the start of production, and right before set photos of the suit leaked online. He has even already provided a look at the muscle car approach to the Batmobile. All of this came while The Batman was in the middle of production, which has now been on pause for several months due to coronavirus. But thanks to DC FanDome, The Batman content continues to come out.

Reeves will hold a panel for The Batman during DC's online convention, but Warner Bros. has started the hype for the upcoming trailer early. The studio released three new images from the film, all featuring Pattinson's Bruce Wayne in various locations and attire. But, these photos also provide the first look at The Batman's take on the Batcave, with Pattinson shown working in the top-secret location in one of the images.

As with many aspects of The Batman, the first look at the Batcave further separates Pattinson and Reeves' from past iterations. Since previous Batman movies have mostly focused on a version of the Caped Crusader who is well-established and incredibly wealthy, the Batcave has recently been a high-tech base of operation that is pristine in its design. But, it is clear in these images that the opposite is true for Pattinson's Batman. This Batcave is more stripped-down by comparison, at least based on what is shown in this image. This fits with the confirmed details that The Batman takes place early on in Bruce's superhero career.

Beyond the look at the Batcave, the latest images from The Batman continue to convey the dark, noir-style approach that Reeves is taking with the story. The last image of Bruce in a suit appears to take place in a church and could be a funeral. While this is far too late in Batman's origin story for this possible funeral to be for Thomas and Martha Wayne, Bruce could instead be mourning the loss of a close friend or even someone who he failed to save while being Batman. Hopefully the impending trailer for The Batman will reveal much more.
