Selling Sunset Stars Respond After MDLLA's Criticism

Selling Sunset stars Maya Vander and Davina Potratz recently addressed the comments made by Million Dollar Listing L.A.'s Tracy Tutor.

Last month, Million Dollar Listing L.A.'s Tracy, along with her other co-stars, appeared in a media interview and roasted their competitor reality show. Tracy said that Selling Sunset lacks real estate references, and the drama mainly focuses on realtor's personal lives. She said, "I have mad respect for women in real estate in Los Angeles, and I just think (Selling Sunset) is not about selling real estate — I think it's about dating bachelors in the Hollywood Hills and it really actually should be a Bravo show." The 44-year-old made another witty comment and said that she has never met or seen any of the real estate agents of the Oppenheim Group at any of her listings ever. Clearly, she was implying that these reality stars are not as successful as her or any of her castmates. She added, "That being said, you know, if you want to sell real estate, maybe kind of come on over to our show and figure out how that works."

But Davina from the Oppenheim Group has a fitting comeback for Tracy. While talking to People in an interview, the 30-year-old, who has over 12 years of experience in the real estate market, said, "I welcome anyone to do research on me. I think you'll find out very quickly that I'm quite serious about real estate." She continued, "I haven't seen Tracy on any of my projects, but that doesn't mean she doesn't do a lot of transactions, you know? There are a lot of agents, and there's a lot of real estate to go around for everyone."

The mother of two also makes a valid point and states that it takes several months for a deal to get finalized. So, a transaction doesn't necessarily need to take place exactly when the filming is happening. She said, "When we shoot Selling Sunset, we film for three, four months, and not every transaction can close in that time. Sometimes I work with buyers that unfortunately take me 12 months to close." The 32-year-old added, "We do see that the success of the show is mostly because of the lifestyle, the luxury and the crazy dynamic between the characters. At the end of the day, we're a reality show about a mix of everything, not just real estate."

There is no doubt that Netflix's real estate show largely features nasty fights, exotic parties, relationships, and dramatic breakups. Perhaps that was the main concept of the show, and the real estate industry was just the sub-plot. Maya says that producers of Selling Sunset decided to focus more on the personal lives of the realtors because that sells, and the audience wants to see that. Well, creators of the show took a unique and interesting approach. They showed a good mix of uber-expensive properties of Los Angeles and the real-life drama in the realtors' lives. This concept is being enjoyed by the viewers, and that's why the show is about to have its season 3 released in less than a week.
