Marvel's Spider-Man: Far From Home was released last year to generally favorable reviews. The film followed Peter and his classmates on a European adventure. Unfortunately, their vacation was consistently ruined by monstrous beings, S.H.I.E.L.D., and the heroic Quinton Beck. Full of epic twists, silly humor, and heartfelt moments, the film gave fans a first look at a post-Endgame world.
Overall, the movie was able to give viewers a fun and unexpected stand-alone Spider-Man movie that was also able to perfectly tie up the third phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Yet as good as the film was, there were a few things that just didn't add up.
10 Happy's Blip Beard
As the first MCU film post-Thanos, Spider-Man: Far From Home had a somewhat difficult task of explaining what happened to everyone that was snapped away. Unceremoniously calling it "the Blip," the film explained that everyone that was "blipped away" remained ageless.
This made perfect sense until Happy Hogan appeared with his "Blip Beard." Now, no time had passed in the Blip and even in Endgame, everyone seemingly returned exactly as they were. So unless everyone turned up looking like Chewbacca, it makes no sense that Happy was able to grow some shaggy facial hair.
9 Fury Being A Skrull
One of the biggest twists in the movie gets revealed in the final end-credit scene: Nick Fury and Maria Hill were actually the two Skrulls, Talos, and Soren. First introduced in Captain Marvel, they are a race of shapeshifting aliens.
While this leaves many fans with lots of questions, it also helps explain why Fury was so easily deceived by Mysterio. Yet, given the severity of the situation, why didn't the Skrulls immediately contact the real Fury?
8 Where Were The Other Avengers?
It is understandable that after Thanos, most of what was left of the Avengers and their compatriots would need a little break from saving the world. However, it was a little odd that none of them showed up to battle the Elementals.
Given that they presented an extinction-level threat, even the Skrull Fury would have at least attempted to call the Avengers or some of the other heroes. It is just a little unbelievable that not a single other Avenger even tried to lend a hand or meet with Mysterio.
7 Where Were The Frantic Parents?
For most of the movie, there is very little mention of the teen's parents who were shockingly fine with their children gallivanting through Europe after the appearance of the first Elemental.
Admittedly, their kids are teenagers and are overall able to take care of themselves. However, given that this is after the devastating events of Thanos, it would make a lot more sense for them to be overly paranoid. It is a little weird that not even one parent put up a fuss or demanded that they return home.
6 Mysterio's Plan Was Pretty Flimsy
Quinton Beck is definitely not the greatest MCU villain, but his plan to become the world's greatest fake superhero was certainly an interesting change of pace. Yet, there are so many ways that his plan could have fallen apart.
Peter could have easily decided to not give him EDITH. Also, he would not have been able to fool anyone if the actual Avengers showed up. Someone like Doctor Strange would have easily seen through his ruse. More importantly, what would he have done if real bad guys showed up? For a man who claimed to always be the smartest person in the room, it is a little embarrassing how quickly his entire master plan could have unraveled.
5 How Did Mysterio Know Spider-Man's Identity?
As flimsy as Mysterio's plan may have been, he was still able to get the one thing he needed: EDITH. To do this, he needed to know Spider-Man's real identity in order to plan the attack in the same place that Peter would be.
However, the film never mentions how Beck knew this. Before the events of the movie, very few people knew Spider-Man's real identity. Somehow Beck and his team not only figured out who Spider-Man was, where he would be, and exactly when Fury would give him EDITH.
4 What Was Up With Spidey's "Peter Tingle"
One of Spider-Man's most powerful abilities is his Spidey-Sense which allows him to detect danger before it happens. In particular, MCU fans will remember the tragic scene in Avengers: Infinity War where Peter used it to detect Thanos' snap. In the movie, it humorously gets called the "Peter Tingle."
Sadly, the "Peter Tingle" just wasn't working until the final battle in London. However, no reason was given as to why it went MIA. Notably, he was able to get it back with very little effort, thereby further making it unclear why Spider-Man was having problems with his most unique ability.
3 Everything About EDITH
As one of Tony's last creations, EDITH is one of the most powerful weapon systems seen in the MCU. Housed in a pair of sunglasses, it is an augmented reality security, defense, and artificial intelligence system that controls Stark's Industries' global satellite system and a range of missiles and drones. While immensely important, there a few things about EDITH that don't make sense.
Firstly, why would Tony create such a powerful artificial intelligence system after the catastrophic consequences of Ultron and then put no safety system in place? Also, EDITH had access to a range of global communication satellites and information about Stark Industries. So, it should have immediately picked up on who Quinton really was. Most importantly, why on Earth wasn't this used in Endgame to battle Thanos and his hoards?
2 Peter Being Ridiculously Careless With EDITH
Peter Parker is definitely not an idiot nor is he irresponsible, but he was unbelievably careless with one of the most dangerous weapon systems in the world.
Besides the fact that he gave it to a complete stranger, he frequently dropped it and almost used it to kill one of his classmates. This seems slightly out of character for the friendly neighborhood superhero and perhaps Mysterio had a point in taking it away from the bumbling teenager.
1 Mysterio's Lies Can Easily Be Debunked
As all MCU fans know, they never miss the end credit scenes, and Spider-Man: Far From Home certainly had one of the most intense. Not only did Mysterio blame Spider-Man for the destruction in London and his death but also revealed Spider-Man's true identity.
Now, there is probably not much Peter can do about everybody finding out who he really is, but Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D. can easily corroborate Peter's account and expose Mysterio's lies. Although it makes for tantalizing future possibilities, it just doesn't make sense that Peter would stay the bad guy forever.
