10 Fun Quirky Horror Movies To Watch On Halloween Night

The weather is getting chillier, everyone is making pumpkin-flavored baked goods, and the excitement of Halloween is in the air. One of the best things to do is hang out at home on October 31st and have a horror movie watching marathon. As the days get shorter and darkness falls a lot earlier, curling up with a spooky film is even more appealing, but instead of searching various streaming services for hours, horror fans should definitely plan ahead.

10 Ready Or Not

The directors of Ready Or Not have signed on for Scream 5, which is great news for horror fans. Ready Or Not is a quirky and fascinating tale of a truly crazy wealthy family who perform a Satanic ritual on Grace (Samara Weaving) and Alex's (Mark O'Brien) wedding night.

Getting to know in-laws is never easy and it can be even trickier when a family is very tight-knit and has decades of traditions. But in this case, the family is literally evil, and Grace soon realizes that this could be her very last night alive. She's an awesome character who kicks serious butt in this movie.

9 We Summon The Darkness

In the 2019 horror movie We Summon The Darkness, three friends named Val (Maddie Hasson), Beverly (Amy Forsyth), and Alexis (Alexandra Daddario) can't be trusted as they're much more evil and sinister than people might originally think.

This is a great, interesting horror movie that isn't what audiences might be expecting, and it would be perfect to stream on Halloween night. It also has a good ending, even though it's depressing.

8 Trick 'r Treat

Anna Paquin stars in the 2007 horror movie Trick 'r Treat, which tells five Halloween night tales.

The film's structure is creative and much more entertaining than simply telling just one story. The movie has a lot of quirks as it takes some ordinary Halloween experiences, like dressing up and going to a party with friends, but also goes further to really scare audiences. In one story, a character isn't into Halloween at all but her husband adores her. In another, someone is the principal of a high school by day and killer by night.

7 Drag Me To Hell

In this Sam Raimi, which came out in 2009, Alison Lohman stars as Christine, a loan officer who doesn't give an elderly woman a mortgage extension.

The woman curses her to hell, which is a great metaphor for how awful it can be to work in this type of industry. The movie has quirky characters and an interesting premise and it would be another good pick for a Halloween movie night.

6 The Cabin In The Woods

Released in 2011, The Cabin In The Woods has one of the most creative premises and execution of any recent horror movie.

The movie has some terrifying monsters and is such a smart idea for a horror movie. The film follows some typical young adult characters going away for the weekend... and that's as much as can be described without a big spoiler. Anyone who has seen the film knows that it's an artistic, well-made, and surprising film.

5 The Visit

M. Night Shyamalan is known for his plot twists and his 2015 movie The Visit is another creative film to check out on Halloween night.

Tyler (Ed Oxenbould) and Becca (Olivia DeJonge) go to see their grandparents and soon learn that things are pretty weird and spooky. The movie is done in a found footage style as the siblings film what happens.

4 Life After Beth

In this 2014 movie, Aubrey Plaza plays Beth, a woman who becomes a zombie.

Dane DeHaan stars as Zack, Beth's boyfriend who starts realizing that other people where he lives seem to be zombies, too. It's a quirky movie that is a funny look at the zombie genre. While it didn't get very good reviews, it's a fun watch that would be great on Halloween, and it deserves more praise and attention. Anna Kendrick also stars as another one of Zack's love interests.

3 The Innkeepers

It's always fun to watch quirky, strange people deal with supernatural happenings, and that's why The Innkeepers deserves a lot of praise.

This 2011 movie is one of the most well-crafted supernatural horror flicks, as it tells the story of Luke (Pat Healy) and Claire (Sara Paxton) working at a haunted hotel in an old-fashioned small town. Watch this one with the lights out and some popcorn (and candy, too, of course).

2 Happy Death Day

In 2011's Happy Death Day, Tree (Jessica Rothe) keeps dying and then having to go back and live the day that she was killed over and over again.

She has to solve her own murder, which is fun to watch, and the movie feels like a classic that can be turned to again and again. Many compare this movie to Groundhog Day and it's just as entertaining.

1 Villains

The 2019 horror movie Villains is about two young thieves, Jules (Maika Monroe) and Mickey (Bill Skarsgård) whose car breaks down, so they break into a house nearby. The people who live there are totally crazy and don't want them to leave.

The premise sounds very dark (and it is), but the movie is a lot of fun to watch as it's quirky, interesting, and keeps the audiences' attention.
