TLC plays a lot of tricks on the audience when they film and edit their reality shows, and 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days is no exception. The masterminds behind the show want their viewers to either love or hate certain people on the show.
Some of the cast members bring either audience love or hate on themselves, just by being who they are. Love them or hate them, though, nobody can deny that some of the cast are worth rooting for and some of them are not and would do well to remember that respect is earned.
10 Worth Rooting For: Paul And Karine
It’s hard to be against Paul and Karine. They’re both just happy and simply floating through life, doing whatever comes next to them in the moment. Sure, they have their ups and downs, but they genuinely seem to love each other, which is more than can be said for at least half the couples on this show.
Plus, they had a baby — little Pierre — during the run of Before the 90 Days, and it’s impossible to resist a baby that cute. But in the wake of recent news about the two of them potentially splitting, maybe this ranking is soon going to change.
9 Not Worth Rooting For: Darcey And Jesse
On the other hand, it is very easy to be against Darcey and Jesse. In fact, hating on Darcey is pretty much a global pastime for fans of 90 Day Fiancé, in all its iterations. At first, viewers almost felt bad for Darcey, because Jesse is that unlikable. He’s controlling, manipulative, and unkind, but it’s soon revealed that Darcey is pretty much the same way.
They could never work, if only because they’re the same person. They’re no good for each other, but they’re certainly no good for anyone else, either.
8 Worth Rooting For: Rachel And Jon
Jon and Rachel are always just trying to make it work. They’re two people who have put their pasts behind them and actively seem to strive to be better people every day, as best they can. Jon is even adapting to being a stepparent to Rachel’s children, even going so far as being present (via video call on Rachel’s phone, of course) for the birth of her second daughter.
They consider Jon to be her father, and why not? Good for them! May every family be so happy together and be able to work through the snarls in their relationships for the good of all.
7 Not Worth Rooting For: Ash And Avery
Where to begin with Ash and Avery? Every interaction between the two of them grates one's patience like a cheese grater. They break up constantly, they’re always at each other’s throats, and they’re just a poor match-up. They might be better partners to other people, but Ash, especially, is pretty much a total dumpster fire.
He’s manipulative and unkind to Avery whenever he gets a chance, so maybe she should keep breaking up with him — and maybe even let it stick this time.
6 Worth Rooting For: Lisa And Usman
When audiences watch 90 Day Fiancé — either Before the 90 Days or one of its many other variants — it’s typically pretty easy to tell on the surface who actually likes each other and who is just using each other. Sometimes, it’s a bit harder to tell, and the audience needs a bit more story before they can be totally sure.
Inexplicably, despite their many differences (which everybody in their lives are constantly making abundantly clear), they genuinely seem to love one another and care about each other. It’s hard not to root for that.
5 Not Worth Rooting For: Darcey And Tom
It’s just a given for the audience to be against Darcey and all the men she chooses in their many forms. Every person Darcey chooses for herself is exactly wrong for her, so it’s always hard to root for her.
However, watching her repeatedly make terrible mistakes and then be dramatic about them does make for enjoyable television. Or, at least — very watchable.
4 Worth Rooting For: Benjamin And Akinyi
Benjamin and Akinyi are another one of those couples on Before the 90 Days who just genuinely seem to like one another. Though they did just announce that, like many others, their wedding has been postponed due to the conditions caused by the pandemic, they are considered married in Kenya.
They are separated for the time being, but know in their heart of hearts that audiences are rooting for them!
3 Not Worth Rooting For: Caesar And Maria
Where to even begin with Caesar and Maria? Many people don’t believe Maria truly exists — at least, they don’t believe that she is who she says she is, with many audiences believing she’s potentially a catfish.
In spite of this, Caesar says he actually traveled to Ukraine recently and met Maria in person. However, he’s also claimed Maria is dating Darcey’s ex, Jesse. The plot continues to thicken, and yet, viewers continue to not bother rooting for Caesar and Maria.
2 Worth Rooting For: Larry And Jenny
Larry and Jenny are just figuring things out. One of the younger couples on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, Larry and Jenny make a plethora of mistakes in their lives and in their relationship with one another. For all these mistakes, though, they care enough about one another to work through them when they arise.
Though difficult, they realize apologies and growth are important, and they often attempt to communicate with one another, which is more than can be said for most couples on the show.
1 Not Worth Rooting For: Ed And Rosemarie
Everyone who’s anyone is against Ed and Rosemarie. To be more specific, they’re anti Ed. Rosemarie hasn’t done anything wrong except talk to the guy and want a better life for herself, which, don’t we all?
Cruel, perverted, and strange, “Big” Ed Brown (a nickname given to him by himself) is the one person on Before the 90 Days that everyone agrees on and he is collectively disliked.
