Elyse Slaine of The Real Housewives of New York recently spoke out about why she exited the show and the mean girl housewives she left behind.
Elyse’s short-lived days on the franchise have come to an end, as she announced that she would not be returning to the show or attending the reunion. Fans were upset to hear the news and wondered what could have scared her away from committing to a bigger part of the hit Bravo franchise. There were rumors that Ramona Singer was not pleased with her sidekick's treachery, and had banned her from the tell-all.
Elyse was not a full-time housewife, but fans made it clear they would have liked to see her holding an apple. Unfortunately, after Elyse spoke on Behind The Velvet Rope, she made it apparent that Ramona did not want her to take part in the show or the reunion. According to Elyse, while it was not up to Ramona to cast her on the show, the Singer Stinger sure had some strong opinions when it came to giving Elyse the tricks of the trade. Elyse said she only watched season one of RHONY and was not schooled in whether or not the other women had Ramona’s back. All she was ever told came from Ramona’s mouth. The crypto trader went on to tell listeners, “All I knew was what she would say to me. And she really couldn't stand any of them and didn't trust any of them. And she said, you know, if you come on, have my back.” But what the friend of the housewife soon learned was there was an exception to the rule. She said, “What she didn't explain to me is the rules are you have my back, but I won't have yours.” Check out the interview below:
On top of dealing with Ramona, Elyse also had to deal with other housewives who did not make her feel very welcomed. The reality star mentioned that the other women were totally caught up in themselves, acting like “mean girls and you know, because I was not a housewife, right.” The moment the experience turned sour for Elyse was the night of the infamous Halloween party. The combination of aggression and certain talking points being breached was enough for her to call it quits, saying, “I literally like walked away. I was like, I'm done, I'm done with this.” To add insult to injury, this was also the moment Ramona wouldn’t allow her to join the girls for a drink. According to Elyse, Sonja Morgan invited Elyse to come out since she was shaken up. But Ramona, as fans know, rescinded the invite. Elyse told host, David Yontef how it went down saying, “And so Ramona out of nowhere, now this is the woman remind you, right, walks into my home unannounced, and says, no, Elyse can't come. So, I just looked at her and I said, I can't come. What do you mean? Why can't I come for a drink? And she said it's just us.”
The Real Housewives of New York have gotten other shake-ups beyond Elyse’s departure. Bravo decided to ax Dorinda Medley, a huge fan favorite, after season 12 ended. The network has only just confirmed Leah McSweeney will return after she argued for a pay rise. Now, Ramona and Luann de Lesseps have been clinging to their full-time housewife status hoping to be able to keep their storyline going.
