They say the Devil's in the details and Lucifer provides plenty of detailed and intricate characters. The Netflix series follows the Devil himself living in Los Angeles, solving murders with LAPD Detective Chloe Decker. Along with a motley crew of mortals, divine beings, and infernal torturers, Lucifer and Chloe do their best to protect the innocent and, in Lucifer's case, damn the sinners.
With so many characters from Biblical stories brought on to the show, there have been characters with awe-inspiring powers. Damned if we did and damned if we didn't, here are the 15 most powerful characters on Lucifer.
Updated September 25th, 2020 by Ian Goodwillie: A lot has changed on Lucifer since moving to Netflix, including the power rankings among the celestials and other characters. As such, it felt appropriate to revisit this list with a few new picks to see how they stack up against the rest! Did your favorite character manage to make the list, or maintain their position?
15 Detective Dan Espinoza
An LAPD Detective and ex-husband of Chloe, Dan is very much the odd-man-out most of the time. Always a bit clueless, Dan only recently became aware of the true nature of Lucifer and the rest of the celestials.
Dan is definitely not the strongest or smartest mortal on the show, but at the end of the day he's a good detective and cares about the people he works with. It would just wish if he'd stop inviting people to his improv shows.
14 Charlotte Richards
At one time, Charlotte was inhabited by the Goddess of All Creation, the most powerful being on Earth. However, when that being left her body, she reverted back to simply being Charlotte. She was still more than she appeared, though; she's a determined and brilliant lawyer and uses her intelligence and natural charisma to her advantage.
Sadly, Cain shot and killed Charlotte at the end of Season 3. Rest assured as her soul was taken to Heaven by Amenadiel, so Charlotte will live out eternity in paradise.
13 Chloe Decker
The woman who has the heart of The Devil must be something special. That's Detective Chloe Decker for you, smart, passionate and able to rub shoulders with the physical embodiment of Hell.
Chloe's ability to affect Lucifer's powers puts her above the rest of the mortals on this list, but at the end of the day she is just that; mortal. As great of a detective as she may be, she's in a different house entirely when it comes to being around celestials made of pure divinity.
12 Eve
Kind of the villain of Season 4 and kind of not, the second wife of Adam and the founder of Original Sin was an interesting addition to the show. Eve returned from Heaven to seek out Lucifer, the man she truly had feelings for. In reality, she just missed the person she was when she was around him, and couldn't quite connect with the man Lucifer had become.
Eve doesn't seem to have any celestial powers whatsoever. Now that she's back on Earth, she will likely age at the same pace as every other human. All of that being said, everyone seems to find her innately irresistible. She also has a penchant for kicking men in the crotch.
11 Cain (Marcus Pierce)
In Season 4 of Lucifer, fans were introduced to the worlds first murderer, Cain. He masqueraded as Lieutenant Marcus Pierce of the LAPD before eventually revealing himself to Lucifer. Not quite mortal and not quite divine, his powers and abilities lie somewhere in between. He cannot be killed and his body will quickly regenerate whatever damage he takes.
He gave up that power, murdered Charlotte and was subsequently killed by Lucifer. Even though he died a mortal, he was still a crime lord and a capable fighter, making him a match for almost anyone. Well, except for Lucifer who sent him to Hell.
10 Dromos
Eve made some incredibly bad choices when trying to win Lucifer back. She and Maze kidnapped William Kinley, a deranged priest who wanted to banish Lucifer. Eve ended up killing him, then using his corpse to bring a demon named Dromos into the world.
Dromos might not have been the sharpest pitchfork in Hell but he knew that the demons needed a leader. Strong and a surprisingly decent strategist, Dromos masterminded a plan that would make Amenadiel's son the King of Hell. Lucifer and company saved the child, and Lucifer returned to his throne for a time.
9 Uriel
Seer of patterns, the archangel Uriel was as dangerous as he was clever. Able to predict a person's next move before they even make it gives him a superior advantage in combat. Given his disregard for not hurting members of his family, Uriel had also shown to be the one of the least moral of the celestials, firmly believing the ends justified the means.
However, Uriel's powers were not infallible. Lucifer and Mazikeen teamed up to take down Uriel, with Lucifer stabbing him with Azrael's blade and permanently destroying his essence. Turns out, Uriel couldn't see that blow coming.
8 Mazikeen
Demon, torturer, bounty hunter, and baby sitter. Mazikeen is a multi-faceted character, and part of her allure is her ability to always be in control. Whether emotionally or physically, Maze is able to take down her opponents and make them submit to her desires.
Her time on Earth may be affecting her, however. She's recently shown to be more volatile and emotional, and has expressed discomfort in her extended stay on Earth. It hasn't affected her ability to kick ass and take names as of, yet. Only time will tell how her search for a soul will further change her, assuming she doesn't already have one.
7 Remiel
While it's unclear how big of a family Lucifer and Amenadiel have in the Silver City, there seems to be a never-ending supply of brothers and sisters. In Season 4, Remiel showed up. Little sister to the two older angels, Remiel was trained in combat and hunting by Amenadiel. When she realized there was a celestial about to be born to a human on Earth, she assumed Lucifer was the father and came to Amenadiel for help. Wrong.
Amenadiel and Dr. Linda Martin were the parents. The revelation led to a fight between Remiel and her mentor, one she barely lost. Amenadiel may no longer be able to slow time but he's still incredibly powerful. They parted on good terms, but she may return someday.
6 Amenadiel
Oldest of his brethren and God's favorite son, the archangel Amenadiel is the physical embodiment of holy divinity and righteous fury. First brought to Earth to return Lucifer to Hell, he now views his mission as protecting his son and his significant other, Dr. Linda Martin.
Even when Amenadiel had a minor crisis in faith towards his Father's will and lost his powers and wings, he was a pillar of strength for anyone who needed him. Even with his time manipulating abilities being intermittent at best, he is still strong, invulnerable and can fly. That's a hard combo to beat.
5 Azrael
Little sister to both Lucifer and Amenadiel, Azrael holds a key place in the Silver City as the Angel of Death. That has to count for something in a fight as it provides her with a level of power and status that gives even the lord of Hell pause.
What's interesting about her is that she has a relationship with Ella, posing as a ghost only she can see since Ella was in a car accident as a young girl. Azrael actually influenced Ella's decision to move to Los Angeles from Detroit so she could be friends with Lucifer. She liked the idea of her two favorite people being friends with each other.
4 Michael
Lucifer's twin brother might be a full-fledged angel sitting at the right hand of God, but he's definitely the bigger jerk of the two. Michael came to Earth with the sole goal of blowing up Lucifer's spot while he was in Hell. Basically, he's just been an all-around nuisance rather than a villain.
Michael has similar strength, speed, and flight abilities to all angels, but he also has a special gift. Instead of playing on people's desires, Michael manipulates people's fears, getting them to do things they wouldn't otherwise do. He also lies a lot, which is another way he differs from Lucifer.
3 Lucifer Morningstar
He may not have horns and a tail, but Lucifer Morningstar is more than the slick talking charmer he appears to be. With a silver tongue and the ability to make people reveal their deepest desires, Lucifer can get you whatever you want for a price. When he met Chloe and began solving cases with her, Lucifer found a new path and direction in life.
To the surprise of everyone but him, he actually made for a decent partner to Chloe. Even though his divine powers are limited so long as Chloe's around, he will get his Devil Face on and bring the wrath of Hell on anyone who hurts the people he cares about.
2 Goddess
Imprisoned in Hell for her attempts to destroy humanity and the world that God had created, the Goddess of All of Creation, or "Mum" as Lucifer calls her, was easily one of the most powerful beings in the universe. Once trapped in the form of the mortal being named Charlotte Richards, her powers as a nigh-omnipotent being were dampened severely.
She was still immensely strong and possessed nearly infinite knowledge. Just a glimpse at her divinity was enough to incinerate any mortal who glanced at her. Luckily, Mum takes the high road and goes off into The Void Lucifer created for her, giving her a new start and forever separating herself from her ex-husband, God.
1 God
God's presence has been minimal at best, though that is about to change. He has performed miracles for his children and continuously tested them for some unknown purpose. Both Lucifer and Amenadiel readily admit that if God were actively interacting in their affairs, there would be nothing stopping him.
Mysterious in his wants and desires, it's clear that more of God's true power and intentions will be seen over the course of Season 5 as he is set to appear in the second half.
