The Devil All The Time: 10 Hilarious Memes Only True Fans Will Understand

Netflix is gradually but surely becoming one of the best providers of independent films - those that present an alternative to big blockbusters usually seen in cinemas. The Devil All the Time that premiered this September is one such film. It's set in the 1950s and the 1960s and tells stories of several people whose lives are influenced by religion and whose paths intersect.

The film has a memorable cast filled with some of the biggest names of today - including the MCU stars Tom Holland and Sebastian Stan, followed by Robert Pattinson, Jason Clarke, Mia Wasikowska, and many, many others. Since it's such a noticeable film, the fans have already made plenty of memes about The Devil All the Time.

10 The Plot Leads

The Devil All the Time no doubt has an interesting story - it shows various types of evil and how they can all converge at one point or another. However, the plot steps back when it gets into comparison with the actors.

The cast is filled with gorgeous and talented actors who are a joy to watch like this meme points out. Tom Holland takes the lead in the movie but he's not the only one who makes it look better.

9 Brings Back To Religion

Robert Pattinson may have become famous thanks to his role as Edward Cullen in the Twilight film franchise but he spent a better part of the last decade proving he has some serious acting chops.

Pattinson has taken on many challenging roles and the part of the reverend Preston Teagardin fits well with the rest of his more intricate roles. And as this meme demonstrates, it also has the potential to bring some people back to religion, so it seems. Despite the fact that reverend Preston is far from a nice guy in the film.

8 A Reunion

The world is small and it doesn't have that many well-known actors. That's why it sometimes happens that actors from well-established fictional universes meet in other films.

Both Tom Holland and Sebastian Stan play superheroes in the MCU - Tom Holland is Spider-Man and Sebastian Stan plays Bucky Barnes aka the Winter Soldier. And even though their characters don't interact much in the MCU, they sure do in The Devil All the Time... but they're not always friendly.

7 A Highlight Of His Career

Fans are usually the ones responsible for making memes about their favorite stars. But the said stars sometimes give them a hand - simply by saying things that can easily be transformed into memes.

Luckily for the wide world of the internet, Sebastian Stan is a pretty open guy and he shared this funny tidbit about filming the final confrontation with Tom Holland's hero Arvin. Stan even went as far as to call the scene the highlight of his career.

6 What A Change

Time flies by fast and even though it might seem like a moment to Harry Potter fans, the film series has actually premiered 19 years ago! And all of its actors have moved on with their lives.

If the audience hadn't been reading about The Devil All the Time before they watched it, they might have been surprised by Harry Melling's role in the film. And also by the fact how much he had changed since the time he played Dudley Dursley. Still, what's the most hilarious part is that Dudley was somehow more lovable than Melling's newer character Roy, despite all of his errors.

5 Three Superheroes And A Clown

What happens when somebody puts together three superheroes and a clown? Well, heads start rolling and people die. A lot of them. At least in The Devil All the Time, they do.

However, some of them deserved it, to be fair. This meme will be amusing for those who know all of the actors from their more famous roles and can compare them with the characters they portrayed in the Netflix film.

4 Love Isn't Picky

If The Devil All the Time taught the world one thing, it's that love isn't picky and it can't be defeated. At least when it comes to the fans and their love for the actors, no matter how horrible or despicable the character they play is.

Robert Pattinson's reverend Preston is an awful guy and he drives a young girl pregnant with his child to suicide in the film but the fans will still adore him for his performance - and simply for being Robert Pattinson.

3 Like A Puppy With A Gun

Tom Holland is best-known for playing the part of the lovable teenage superhero Peter Parker aka Spider-Man in the MCU. So it's no wonder that Holland wanted to spice his acting CV a bit and show the world that he can also take on more serious roles.

And with Arvin, he achieved exactly that. But some of the fans believe that Arvin is still adorable. Even when he's killing people with a gun. (Hey, they apparently deserved it!)

2 Counting Down The Minutes

Let's state the obvious fact - Tom Holland's Arvin is the main hero of The Devil All the Time. So, naturally, it takes him 46 minutes to appear in the film (which lasts over 2 hours).

If the fans go to watch the movie primarily because of Holland and are eagerly awaiting when he first makes his appearance... well, then they're in for quite a long wait. Luckily, as they say, the result's worth the wait because Holland nails the role.

1 Everybody Deserves A Bit Of Love

So both Robert Pattinson and Tom Holland got their fair share of love from the fans of the film - who's next? Oh yes, Sebastian Stan aka the sheriff Lee Bodecker.

Stan's role isn't as big as one might expect but he makes the most of every minute he's on the screen. Still, one has to wonder how would the film look if Chris Evans played the part like he was originally scheduled before he dropped out because of lack of time.
