While Arrow introduced a lot of beloved DC characters, a minor one that ended up having a surprising reception was Felicity Smoak. While she is a small character in the Firestorm mythology, the Arrowverse version reimagined her to become a major Team Arrow member who ended up becoming Oliver Queen’s wife. The character was originally only supposed to be a guest player for an episode or two, but after seeing Felicity in action, the creators decided to give her a bigger part. For 7 seasons, Felicity was the team’s IT-master who has gone through a lot of different experiences.
Even though she didn’t return for most of the final season, Felicity and Oliver did get a happy-ish ending in the series finale. Whether or not fans will see her again in any of the other shows remain to be seen. Throughout the years, Felicity garnered a massive fanbase who have found ways to celebrate the character through memes and fan-art.
10 An Army, A Hulk & A Hacker
Every superhero franchise always has that one character that they like to brag about. The Justice League has Superman (who is essentially a god), while The Avengers’ go-to always seems to be Hulk. Given how exceptionally powerful Bruce Banner is in his monster-form, it’s understandable
However, when someone has a powerful no-nonsense hacker like Felicity, what would the outcome be? If Felicity is just kept away at a safe location, she could probably hack herself into a victory against armies as well as The Hulk.
9 Anytime Oliver Gets Jealous
As the Arrowverse expanded, with The Flash as Arrow’s first spinoff, it allowed for more dynamics to be born. One that is a fan-favorite is the friendship between Felicity and Barry Allen. During Barry’s introduction prior to getting super-speed, he and Felicity bonded instantly.
Oliver, who was smitten by Felicity very early, was never good at keeping his jealousy hidden whenever she was with another man. He probably didn’t have issues flashing back to that time he shot Barry in the back whenever the Scarlet Speedster gets chummy with Felicity.
8 Team Arrow In A Nutshell
Back in the early seasons of Arrow, Felicity was pretty much the most beloved character in the entire series. From having witty one-liners to hacking like nobody’s business, Felicity was adored quite a lot.
It’s sort of funny how peaceful Felicity was before going through the insane adventures that came in later seasons, including almost dying. That’s why this meme is even more appreciated because it’s such a good reminder of how normal Felicity’s world used to be.
7 Diggle The Ultimate Olicity Shipper
John Diggle had several roles on Team Arrow, but if there was one that stood out more sometimes, it was his devotion as a Felicity/Oliver shipper or “Olicity” as they’re called. Watch closely throughout the first 3-4 seasons and you might catch Diggle’s passion to see the two of them grow closer.
It’s probably a good thing that Diggle wasn’t a social media user. If Diggle was on Twitter and had to tweet about his devotion for Olicity, it’d probably be something like this meme where anytime Oliver was with someone else, he was in ultimate denial.
6 DC’s Ultimate Hacker
It sometimes isn’t pointed out enough how many DC heroes are actual hackers. From Oracle to Arrowverse characters like Cisco Ramon and Felicity, who would be titled the champion of hacking?
While other Arrowverse characters have declared Felicity as the best hacker, it would still be fun to see other DC characters react as they have been around longer than her. It’s still a shame that Barbara Gordon never showed up so that Oracle and Overwatch could have had a showdown in hacking.
5 Those Awkward Season 1 Talks
The Oliver and Felicity relationship had a very funny origin story as the playboy billionaire came up with weak lies to get her help. It’s a wonder that Felicity kept a straight face for as long as she did, given how terrible Oliver’s lies were in keeping his vigilante gig a secret.
However, something that was always a blast to watch was whenever they had those awkward conversations over coms. This meme has probably Felicity’s best awkward line to Oliver ever.
4 How Felicity Substituted For Batman
The Flash season 3 did its own version of the infamous Flashpoint storyline which was received with mixed reactions. While it only lasted for barley two episodes, there were key elements fans were hoping to see from the comic book.
Given that there was no Batman in this universe at that point, Oliver would have been a good replacement for that powerful ending that Barry has with Bruce in the original story. Instead, Felicity was used as Barry rambled about what he had just done to the timeline.
3 How Felicity Should Have Bothered Oliver
If there was one thing Oliver did way too much throughout 8 seasons, it was his brooding. Given that Green Arrow is a bit more light-hearted in the comics, the TV version certainly took some liberties.
That’s why Felicity was a necessary character for Arrow as she was able to bring some light into the gritty drama. A missed opportunity, however, was that she never tried to get Oliver into funny videos online. Perhaps a cat video would have actually done him some good.
2 The Season 4 Fear
The fourth season started with a bang as the season premiere revealed a flashforward where the death of a major character was teased. Given that it was going to be a series regular, fans speculated for months who it might be in the grave.
But what many viewers were determined about was that it could absolutely not be Felicity in the grave, no matter what. Luckily, many episodes before the death were actually revealed, Felicity was seen in the flashforwards alive with Oliver.
1 That Special Fern (10)
Anyone who is in the Olicity fandom knows the meaning behind the fern that became iconic for the couple. Hopefully, they have one together in the Afterlife now that Oliver and Felicity are no longer in the land of the living.
However, what if the fern had ended up becoming a character? Imagine the thoughts it would have, what it would call itself, and how it would feel about its journey as Oliver and Felicity’s fern.
