Fans of Animal Crossing: New Horizons have a lot of fun with costumes and customization while playing on their virtual islands, and some have taken this creativity into the real world. This compilation will look at some amazing Animal Crossing costume ideas for this Halloween.
Because Animal Crossing is filled with well, animals, a majority of these costumes just need some fuzzy ears or a tail to really pull off the look. Those crafty with fabrics and a headband can make their own ears, but most party or costume stores should have them available for fairly cheap. As the villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons wear human clothing, the body portion of these outfits are relatively simple to put together. Much of this can be improvised with garments that fans may already have in their closets. For an added effect, makeup and face paint can also be used.
While there are a lot of great Animal Crossing cosplay artists out there who have put a lot of time and detail into their look, many costumes can easily be assembled on a budget. The following Animal Crossing costumes are rather simple to achieve, and inspired fans can play around and tweak their outfits to design a look that works with what clothing items they may already have.
The infamous Tom Nook often gets a bad rap for the large sums of bells he constantly asks of the player. Thankfully, assembling this look should be easier than paying off a 2 million bell loan. After making or buying some ears and a tail, all that's left to do is find a green sweater or leafy button-up Hawaiian shirt for this simple yet recognizable character. Make a little bell bag and add a mask or face paint to really get the point across.
Label is another NPC who's outfit is easy to pull off. Finding some purple ears may be the most challenging part for the traveling Abel sister, but they can also be made by stuffing and sewing some purple fabric and attaching it to a headband. This fashionista wears a sharp outfit consisting of white pants and sunglasses, a blue denim jacket or sweater, and a yellow striped scarf in New Horizons. Some blue eyeshadow and black face paint for the nose ties the look together.
Raymond the smug cat has become one of the most sought-after villagers in New Horizons. This look requires a grey waistcoat, matching suit pants, a purple tie, and some black-rimmed glasses. His ears, tail, and paws are all black, so finding gloves and shoes in this color can make this costume pop. Raymond has a blonde tuft of hair that's swooped to the side. For a really detailed look, a brown and green contact lens could be used to duplicate his heterochromia. An easier option may be to highlight each eye with an appropriate eyeshadow color.
Photographer Harvey the dog has a stereotypical hippy look. The clothing items needed are: a red or orange headband, rounded sunglasses, a baggy long sleeve shirt, a brown poncho-like vest, brown boots, and some jeans. Some face paint can be used for the nose. For the mustache, a stick-on can be purchased for pretty cheap, or more face paint can be used to draw it on.
Iconic Isabelle makes for an adorable Animal Crossing costume. While one may need to purchase a wig to get that "bag of bells" bob, it's also possible to style a bun in this fashion. Alternately, some yellow ears can be used to forgo messing with the hair all together. Isabelle has sported a variety of outfits throughout the Animal Crossing series including a green checkered vest, a yellow sweater, and her salmon-colored New Horizons Hawaiian shirt. She typically wears a black or beige skirt.
Kicks is the visiting skunk NPC who sells shoes and bags. He wears a yellowish brown newsboy cap and matching suspenders. Because his fur is blue, this can be a little difficult to pull off, but either a wig or some blue washable hair dye or spray can do the trick. As with all of these, some ears are also a must. Painting a pink nose could also help tie this Animal Crossing: New Horizons Halloween costume together.
