Fortnite's Marvel Nexus War 'Just the Beginning' Of Crossover Content

Fortnite will continue to feature Marvel characters and other content, as the partnership between the two will continue for several more years after the current crossover season ends. The ongoing Nexus War in Fortnite Season 4, which pits players against Marvel characters like Galactus, now seems likely to mark the beginning of a long-running partnership. It also appears that plans might be in place to customize Fortnite further by tapping into the brand deals it has recently struck with DC and Star Wars, resulting in numerous metaverse possibilities.

Much of Fortnite's success has been fueled by the high volume of new content Epic Games has been putting into the game since its launch three years ago. Each crossover has been integral to Fortnite staying relevant. The Fortnite Marvel crossovers have already featured the likes of Thor, Storm, Wolverine, Hulk, and several more, and Epic has teamed up with other games and media franchises in the past. The two hugely successful franchises first joined together back in 2018, which resulted in the creation of the Infinity Gauntlet mode. While other collaborations have materialized, none have been quite as popular as the crossover between Marvel and Fortnite.

Epic Games' Donald Mustard, the worldwide creative director of Fortnite, confirmed that more Marvel features will be coming to the game, but didn't reveal the specific details. Mustard was the featured guest last week on the podcast This Week in Marvel, where he shared his thoughts on the relationship between Marvel and Fortnite. The interview primarily focused on the long-term aspirations of the project in which Mustard provided some interesting hints to fans who are eager to learn more about the upcoming content. Epic Games has observed this trend. According to Mustard, the crossover will continue for many more years.

In the meantime, Epic isn't shying away from bringing partnerships with other properties into its ever-popular battle royale. With the Halloween season in full swing, Fortnite's annual Fortnitemares celebration has also arrived. Along with spooky seasonal skins and challenges, the Ghostbusters are also appearing in Fortnite for a limited time.

This news should come as a relief to fans to know that Marvel-themed content will be available in Fortnite sometime in the near future. Mustard's announcement comes at a time when Epic is attempting to satisfy Fortnite newcomers who recently started playing the battle royale game exclusively for its Marvel content. It was crucial that Epic found a way to not only attract these new gamers but to keep them interested. Season 4 proved to be so popular that Epic risked losing a substantial amount of players if Marvel was not there for the long haul. Thankfully, there will be no shortage of playing options.
