With the PlayStation 5's release quickly approaching, fans are already starting to think about limited editions of the console that might tickle their fancy, and one artist has even created their own Spider-Man: Miles Morales design. Sony has already promised special edition designs for the PS5 that will come in the future, and has explained that that the outside plates on the console will be completely customizable.
There were many who declared their disapproval of the standard PS5's black and white design, with an internet trend comparing the console to a wifi router, and many more comparisons drawn by some pretty hilarious memes poking fun at the design. The fact that the PS5 works both vertically and horizontally didn't help with the memes, but it is actually also an appreciated feature, as not all consoles work both ways. Several new designs for the PS5 have surfaced, including one that replaces the white plates with 24K gold ones along with a golden DualSense controller and headphones.
Giuseppe Spinelli, who some might know online as Snoreyn, teamed up with LetsGoDigital to create a Miles Morales themed PS5 and controller. LetsGoDigital explains that although releasing this design at launch to coincide with the Spider-Man: Miles Morales game would work perfectly, this is an unofficial design that Sony has nothing to do with, so fans won't be seeing this design on actual consoles. This design features the Spider-Man symbol in red over the two black plates. The spider is slightly elevated so that it's in 3D, sitting on a web that extends over the surface of both plates. The web has been done in a glossy red color that contrasts with the matte black background. The web reflects red light, and this combined with red LEDs around the ventilation openings creates a fun but elegant effect. Miles Morales' suit clearly inspired the design, and the DualSense controller also gets a makeover reminiscent of his crime-fighting outfit. A silky reflective red web on a black background covers the controllers, with the symbols on the buttons in red as well. And of course, the DualSense touchpad is adorned with the slogan, "Be Yourself".
Having removable plates allows users to choose a design for their PS5 without having to spring for a pricey special edition. A few limited edition versions of the PS4 have come out over the years, and new ones have been released as recently as this year, when The Last Of Us Part II graced the PS4.
The idea of making the outside plates on the console removable is great for gamers who enjoy customizing their tech, and it's especially great for the PlayStation 5, which so many people don't like the look of. Giuseppe Spinelli is an amazing designer and 3D artist judging from his stunning Spider-Man: Miles Morales design, and hopefully Sony notices and brings him on to design future consoles for real.
