Sweet Tooth: Matching Gilmore Girls Characters To Halloween Candies

There is technically just one Halloween episode of Gilmore Girls, but pumpkins and fall leaves figure into nearly half of the show's episodes. The series is known for its autumnal aura in small-town Connecticut. Lorelai and Rory are equipped for a cozy lifestyle, including movie night snacks and frequent meals at Luke's Diner.

Just like many real-life people, Gilmore Girls characters can easily be matched with Halloween candies, especially thanks to some clever things they say in certain episodes.

10 Luke: Kudos

Luke Danes serves doughnuts, pancakes, sodas, and other diner delights, but he's not eating any of them. The owner and cook is a proponent of healthy eating and is quick to share that opinion with Lorelai and Rory. His everyday eating habits indicate that he won't be indulging too much on Halloween, so Luke gets Kudos, the attempt at a healthy candy bar, or a naughty granola bar, depending on the perspective. His girlfriend has to ease him into other candies.

9 Jess: Red Hots

Thanks to his bad boy image and steamy pursuit of Rory, Jess Mariano gets Red Hots. The cinnamon candies perfectly express Jess's sweet and spicy way. He has a rough exterior and a kiss that would clear anyone's sinuses. Luke's troubled nephew doesn't waste too much time trick-or-treating. He knows exactly what he wants--a relationship with Rory.

8 Dean: Sour Patch Kids

Even those who claim to be "Team Dean" might admit that the teen can be a sour guy. Rory's first boyfriend became much more than that as the show went on, and he can't get too sweet of a candy for all his bad deeds.

Dean is matched with Sour Patch Kids, a movie theater treat that works like Dean in reverse: starts out sour, then becomes sweet.

7 Logan: Ferrero Rocher

Logan Huntzberger is the kind of guy who was raised to expect his candies delivered to him on a silver dish. The heir has his moments where he is more normal, but those are rare. If he's going to eat candy on Halloween, it's going to be something fancy. Ferrero Rocher chocolates are just right, and Rory might even steal some of the hazelnut confections.

6 Richard: Lindt Lindor

Richard Gilmore, in a less obnoxious way than Logan, might also reach for a pricier candy. He would have some delectable options by going with Lindt Lindor truffles. Like the chocolates, Richard might have a tough exterior, but he can show a softness at heart. Lindt truffles are filled with all kinds of goodness in a great variety of flavors, never disappointing with that melt-in-your-mouth quality.

5 Emily: Marzipan

No, Marzipan is not a typical Halloween candy. But it is if you're Emily Gilmore. The polished mother and grandmother is often watching her weight, but she is quick to share some marzipan with Lorelai and Rori. The sugary little squares are like a cross between candy and pastry, and Lorelai would rather just eat a Toblerone.

4 Sookie: Toblerone

Speaking of Toblerone, there is no better candy for Sookie. In the Dragonfly Inn days, the chef secretly hides out in one of the inn's rooms while she is pregnant, sneaking Toblerones up there to enjoy while she watches TV. While Sookie is frequently baking elaborate cakes or other decadent desserts for her job, she knows a good chocolate candy when she sees one.

3 Rory: Red Vines Licorice

Rory is seen eating cakes, pies, pancakes, and Pop-tarts on Gilmore Girls, but what is her best Halloween candy? In addition to typical M&Ms and Hershey bars, Rory has to have licorice. Her and Lorelai's preferred brand is Red Vines, but Rory will also settle for red Twizzlers.

This type of candy is a movie night staple for the Gilmore girls. It's not everybody's favorite, but it's a classic that some love.

2 Lane: Snickers Bar

Everyone knows that teenage Lane Kim doesn't get too much candy. Her mother, Mrs. Kim, has a strict policy against sugar (and French fries). The antique shop owner makes sure that she and her daughter maintain a steady diet of tofu so as to avoid "the devil's starchy fingers." When Mrs. Kim spots Lane with a Snickers bar, Rory covers for her and claims the candy. It's a good thing, too, since Mrs. Kim calls the bar "chocolate-covered death."

1 Lorelai: Butterfingers

Some viewers don't like the fact that Lorelai encourages so much unhealthy eating, but others think that all the junk food makes her relatable. If the fun-loving mom could have her ideal Halloween candy, it would be a Butterfingers bar. There's nothing like those layers of chocolate and crispy peanut butter. In season seven, after Rory was supposed to go to Asia with Logan, Rory and Lorelai eat some dessert sushi. Lorelai shows her devotion to Butterfingers by asking Rory, "You are honestly asserting that you like the Tootsie Roll-marshmallow-Twizzler roll better than the Butterfinger-Junior Mint-chocolate chip-Jujube roll?"
