The Batman Set Photos Reveal Detailed Look At Colin Farrell As Penguin

New set photos give a detailed look at Colin Farrell's take on the Penguin in 2022's The Batman. The latest film to take on the story of the Caped Crusader stars Robert Pattinson in the titular role. The film has faced multiple delays due to the coronavirus pandemic, originally being scheduled to be released in June 2021 before being delayed to October of that year. The film now has a set date of March 4, 2022.

Director Matt Reeves said filming was around 25% done when shooting was suspended because of the pandemic. When filming resumed in September, the set was shut down yet again when Pattinson tested positive for the coronavirus. Despite all the complications, Reeves had enough footage to put together a decent trailer for DC Fandome, giving fans a small glimpse into Farrell's take on the character. Now, fans can get an even better look at Farrell in The Batman.

In a set of photos from JustJared, fans can get a closer look at Farrell's wild transformation into the Penguin. Most of the cast seems to be present at the shoot, which looks to be taking place at the funeral previously shown in the trailer from DC FanDome. You can see all of the set photos from Just Jared in the tweet below:

The Penguin only appeared briefly in the trailer, with many fans skeptical that it was actually Farrell under heavy prosthetics. The actor has undergone quite the transformation to take on the role and Farrell is nearly unrecognizable in every glimpse fans have gotten of the Penguin. Farrell reportedly gained weight for the role and makeup artist Mike Marino, who has worked on Black Swan and I Am Legend, has ensured that Farrell will look completely different when he faces Bruce Wayne.

The Batman marks the first film version of the villain since Danny DeVito took on the role in the Tim Burton Batman films. The Batman features a slate of villains in addition to Farrell's Penguin, including Catwoman, the Riddler, and Carmine Falcone. While Dano's Riddler seems to be the focus of the trailer, and with Farrell's character still mingling with Bruce Wayne, the film may be setting up Penguin to have a larger role in future films. Fans will have to wait until 2022 to see just what Reeves has in store for the Penguin and all the other villains when they face off against Pattinson's Batman.
