The Masked Singer: Baby Alien Revealed To Be NFL Player Mark Sanchez

This week on The Masked SingerGroup B contestant Baby Alien took off his mask, revealing himself to be NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez. Despite a thrilling performance of "It's Time" by Imagine Dragons, this football player didn't manage to wow the judges enough to continue in the competition.

Last week, the Group A contestants returned to the stage. Giraffe, Sun, Popcorn, and Snow Owls all delivered riveting renditions of their songs while making the judges even more confused about their identities. But despite his best efforts, Giraffe fell short in comparison to his fellow competitors. He was eliminated from the competition and forced to remove his mask, revealing actor Brian Austin Green. Screen Rant was the only publication to correctly guess that the 90210 actor was the one under the mask. His appearance came as a total surprise to both judges and fans.

This week, the Group B contestants took the stage once again. Serpent, Crocodile, Baby Alien, Seahorse, and Whatchamacallit all performed. The last time the Group B contestants took the stage, Gremlin made Masked Singer history by eliminating himself. The performer took off the mask of his own volition, revealing himself to be actor Mickey Rourke. While nothing that momentous occurred on this episode, we did get another celebrity reveal. Underneath the innovative Baby Alien mask was NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez. Not one of the panelists even came close to guessing Mark. Their guesses for the face under the costume included Sacha Baron Cohen, Jeff Dunham, Eric Bana, Taylor Lautner, and Jason Biggs, but no one assumed an NFL player could be the one belting his heart out while simultaneously commanding a puppet.

Mark opened up about his decision to pilot the show's first-ever puppet costume. He explained to Variety, "I think that needed somebody that was big enough and strong enough to handle the weight of the costume. Because after wearing it for a while, it wears on you a little bit. It’s like 40 pounds." Mark also revealed how his past in the NFL helped to prepare him for his role on The Masked Singer. He said, "I’ve learned...how to create a routine for whatever I’ve done. And so that’s exactly the way I went about it with this. I would compartmentalize each thing, whether it’s the choreography, or the singing part or the puppeteering. And so that kind of brought the puppet to life. It was all part of the regimen and I had a great time doing it."

While Baby Alien will not continue in the competition, plenty of talented performers remain. In Group B, Serpent, Crocodile, Seahorse, and Whatchamacallit all put on impressive performances that allowed them to live to sing another day. Fans will have to continue watching this season to verify the identities of all the celebrities under those masks.
