The Saddest Moment From Each DCEU Movie Ranked | ScreenRant

The movies from the DC universe are known to be darker and for the most part, less humorous than the MCU, and in no way is that a negative. It's important to have the distinction between the two, and just because a movie is dark, does not mean that it is a bad movie.

One thing both the MCU and DCEU are not short of is heartbreaking moments. Usually, this comes in the form of a death scene, but it can also be family related but have no death involved.

8 Suicide Squad - Deadshot Leaves His Daughter

In Suicide Squad Amanda Waller talked about how every man has a weakness, and Deadshot's weakness is his daughter Zoe. With a brief cameo by Ben Affleck as Batman, Deadshot goes to shoot the Dark Knight in an Alley but Zoe steps in front and pleads her dad not to kill someone else.

Deadshot agrees and is cuffed to the wall with Zoe hugging him telling him that she loves him as Deadshot is about to leave his daughter with no certain time of being reunited. It has been confirmed that Will Smith will not return as Deadshot in Suicide Squad 2.

7 Shazam! - Billy Meets His Mother

Upon saying the word "Shazam", orphan Billy Batson transforms into the Shazam that comic fans know and love. Shazam was certainly the most light-hearted DCEU movie but when Billy is reunited with his birth mother he learns the truth about the day he lost her.

Billy's mother reveals that she deliberately did not go to him after they got separated at a carnival because she knew he would have a better life than she could ever give him. From the tone of the male voice in the back of her apartment, it seems like she could potentially be in an abusive relationship and still does not want Billy to be a part of that. Time will only tell if she will return in the sequel.

6 Birds Of Prey - Bruce's Death

No matter what movie, it's always 10 times sadder when a dog dies than when a human dies. Okay, Bruce in Birds of Prey wasn't technically a dog but a Hyena is the closest we got in this movie. When Harley Quinn's apartment is attacked, Bruce runs towards an explosive before it detonates leaving the audience hurt at Bruce's death.

It turns out that in the end Bruce is alive but DC managed to let audiences believe that he was dead for the remainder of the movie after his death scene.

5 Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice - Robin Suit

There are a few sad moments in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Clark talking to Jonathan Kent again was a very close second place. Clark Kent's death was also sad, but ultimately he was going to be revived and fans more than likely knew that at the time, therefore taking some of the emotional impact away from the scene.

This scene where a broken Bruce Wayne looks up at Robin's old suit gives audiences a dark look into Batman's past. Fans discover that not only did Batman previously fight the Joker before the events of the movie, but Joker killed Batman's aid, Robin. Now the suit hangs as a continuous reminder to Batman of that horrible night in his past.

4 Justice League - Barry and Henry Allen

Anyone who knows the story of The Flash will know that Henry Allen was wrongly imprisoned for the murder of Barry's mother. When Barry went to see Henry in prison, there is an emotional interaction between the two. Not only did Billy Crudup play Henry Allen incredibly well, but there was good chemistry between Crudup and Miller.

Henry tells Barry to stop visiting him in prison as Henry believes that it's holding Barry back from living his life. Hopefully, fans will hopefully see more of Barry and Henry in The Flash solo movie whenever it gets released!

3 Aquaman - Manta's Death

Jason Momoa brings Arthur Curry to life once again in Aquaman as he attempts to take his true place as the King of Atlantis. Manta was the villain for the movie but in the first act, his father was killed in an underwater explosion in a submarine.

Even though Manta was the villain of the story, a son desperately trying to save his dying father from drowning is certainly an upsetting scene to watch. The first Manta needs his son to escape so triggers a bomb and holds it until his dying breath so that his son will leave.

2  Wonder Woman -  Death Of The Veld People

Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman goes to the Belgium town of Veld and, with her allies, frees the inhabitants from the Germans. The town then celebrates but not long after, as Diana is attending an event at one of the German castles, the German's fire a gas bomb on the town.

Diana races to the town only to see it is still covered in gas. Once she wades through the fog she is sadly greeted with the burned remains of the people she once saved. Can WB top this emotional moment in the sequel? The answer remains to be seen.

1 Man Of Steel - Death of Jonathan Kent

Zack Snyder's Man of Steel centered around the idea of a man with two fathers who both had opposing ideologies regarding who that man was to become. On one hand, there is Jor-El who wanted Kal-El to be the bridge between two worlds, whereas Jonathan Kent wanted Clark to be safe and live as normal a life as possible with the exception of his abilities.

When a tornado struck their home town, Clark could have saved Jonathan Kent easily from death, but Jonathan believed so strongly that the world wasn't ready to see someone with Clark's abilities, and he didn't want Clark exposed, and as a result, Clark watched his father die.
