10 Times Actors Were Spotted For Roles In Strange Places

Sometimes the most famous of actors get noticed in the craziest of places. It's not too uncommon for an actor to have an odd story as to how they were discovered. The traditional way would normally be through an agent, countless auditions, and a lot of hard work. The actors on this list though were also very lucky.

Whether they were just going about their daily business or perhaps didn't even have any interest in acting, these massive stars happened to get huge roles just by being themselves. A lot of this was down to timing and being in the right place, but it is also based on someone taking a risk and having some faith.

10 Chris Pratt: In A Bar

Chris Pratt is pretty close to a large group of people; in fact, his friendship circle would often hang out on the beach together playing sports and having a good time in Maui. Chris was a regular and many people got to know him a little better.

Near the beach, there's a bar in which Chris was actually approached by the director of his first film, which happened to be a horror picture. The director was Rae Dawn Chong and she really set Pratt's career aflame!

9 Daniel Radcliffe: In A Theatre

Daniel Radcliffe didn't really have any ambition to be an actor before being cast as the famous boy wizard. However, the future Harry Potter's family was quite well connected, with his father becoming friends with the producer David Heyman.

As the auditions for the Hogwart's student went along, there were no clear candidates standing out. However, one evening Heyman went to a production that Radcliffe's family happened to be at and he spotted Daniel, realizing he would be the perfect Potter!

8 Rosario Dawson: On Her Porch

Rosario Dawson's fame has continued to go from height to height thanks to her countless successes and her brilliant performances in a huge range of genres. But, she didn't really have to put in a lot of effort when she was first noticed.

A writer actually lived in her local area and often saw her hanging out on her porch. Since the aura of Dawson continued to attract their attention, they gave her an audition; this, of course, led on to a very successful career.

7 Alden Ehrenreich: Spielberg's Accountant

Alden Ehrenreich is continuing to rise in terms of his fame. After starring in some pretty big films like Hail, Caesar! and even taking a turn at the iconic role of Han Solo, Ehrenreich is becoming a bit of a household name.

He was originally noticed by Steven Spielberg of all people, but not in a traditional audition. His father was actually Spielberg's accountant, which is how the famous director came to know Alden. Of course, the rest after that is history!

6 Sasha Banks: On Hot Ones

Sasha Banks is a famous name for any fans of the WWE considering she is already a multiple-time champion in NXT, Raw, and Smackdown. But she has only just recently made her way into acting thanks to her role as an unknown character in The Mandalorian. 

Banks never set out to get the role, nor was it her work as a wrestler that caught the creative team's attention. Instead, it was an episode of Hot Ones that really demonstrated her creativity and talent to the higher ups!

5 Marilyn Monroe: In A Factory

Marilyn Monroe is perhaps one of the most famous stars in the history of Hollywood. Just like many other people on this list though she never initially tried to be in films, nor, in fact, did she go for her modeling career.

Instead, Monroe was working in a factory when a photographer noticed that she looked great on film and decided to give her a role as a model. If she had called in sick that day then history would be very different.

4 Keanu Reeves And Alex Winter: In Line For McDonald's

Keanu Reeves and Alex Winters are still great friends and have continued to work together thanks to the ongoing success of Bill and TedThe franchise really wouldn't feel the same without this duo at the helm.

There was almost a version without them though, as the studio was on the verge of casting someone else. It never felt right though and it was only when the producers noticed two young guys messing around in line for McDonald's that they realized they had found their stars.

3 Harrison Ford: As A Carpenter

Harrison Ford had a lot of success as an actor, but work had quickly dried up for him. He started to look at changing his career path once again and started to rely upon his skills as a carpenter for some extra income.

He just so happened to be hired on a project that managed to cross over with George Lucas and the creatives behind Star Wars. They thought he was the right man for the job and Ford was taken off of carpentry duty and fitted with his famous leather vest.

2 Charlize Theron: In An Argument

Charlize Theron had traditional training and was even noticed by a talent agent. However, everything went a bit in reverse since she was initially noticed by her agent when she was in the middle of an argument.

This hellish shopping experience was probably pretty embarrassing for Theron, but after watching the conflict the agent put her through acting training and managed to get her some pretty significant roles!

1 Danny Trejo: In A Rehabilitation Program

Danny Trejo has led a complex life. He has previously struggled with addiction and has even gone to jail. However, he learned how to box, becoming incredible in the sport and also continued to become a role model of the rehabilitation program.

It was through this program that he was hired to work on the set of a film as an extra. He happened to bump into an old friend who knew of his boxing experience and gave him a job as an instructor for the film. Before he knew it Trejo was deeply entrenched in the movie industry.
