Dash & Lily Season 2: Release Date & Story Details | Screen Rant

Dash & Lily season 2 can take the story in many directions, and here's everything that's known about it. Dash & Lily's first eight episodes follow two teenagers in New York City who communicate through a shared notebook, which leads to their inevitable face-to-face meeting.

Dash & Lily season 1 stars Midori Francis as one of the two protagonists, a well-read girl who dreams of her own love story. Lily starts a playful literal game at a local bookstore, in which she challenges the reader to various dares. Austin Abrams co-stars as Dash, a cynical teenager who discovers Lili's notebook and finds that he enjoys exchanging messages with her. Meanwhile, supporting characters like Boomer (Dante Brown) and Edgar (Glenn McCuen) make the game more intesting, as both of them personally know Dash and Lily. The Netflix series is based on Rachel Cohn and David Levithan's 2010 book Dash & Lily's Book of Dares.

In the penultimate episode of Dash & Lily season 1, Francis' character drunkenly meets Dash for the first time and then learns that her family will be moving across to the world to Fiji. Incidentally, the notebook romance seemingly comes to an end, as both parties involved feel underwhelmed by their face-to-face conversations.

Dash & Lily season 2 hasn't officially been ordered by Netflix. Based on the positive reactions thus far, the streaming service will most likely greenlight new episodes by mid-December; a Christmas gift for fans of the series. Two book sequels have released since the 2010 publication of the source material, so Dash & Lily season 2 seems inevitable. According to series creator Joe Tracz (via Decider), he's ready to roll:

“I hope that if the series connects with people, that we’ll be able to get a chance to adapt that second book... The third book was actually written on set. Because David and Rachel, when they visited, they’d be working in the corner of the set on their laptops, writing the third book.”

Netflix could theoretically prioritize Dash & Lily season 2 for a 2021 release, evidenced by the fact that the book sequel takes place one year after the events of the first story. Assuming that the main cast doesn't have any scheduling conflicts, filming could take place during the winter months of 2021 to capitalize upon the holiday premise. As of now, it seems likely that Dash & Lily season 2 could release in November or December 2021.

Assuming that Dash & Lily season 2 will be an adaptation of The Twelve Days of Dash & Lily, the narrative will focus on the central duo's romance and a series of events that drain Lily of her year-round holiday spirit. Both protagonists narrate the book sequel in alternating chapters, and the primary conflict stems from Lily's depression after her grandmother suffers a heart attack. Expect Dash & Lily season 2 to have a mature tone, and to show how the protagonists learn to compromise when life becomes especially difficult - a concept that applies to Lily's grandfather Arthur (James Saito) in the first installment on Netflix.
