Mandalorian Season 2 Premiere Gets an Old-School Star Wars Poster

The Mandalorian season 2 premiere episode, "The Marshal," has been given a very retro touch with an old school Star Wars poster. Though the new season is already several episodes into its run, it’s never too late in paying respects to one of the biggest sci-fi franchises of all time.

For many Star Wars fans, the wait for the arrival of The Mandalorian season 2 felt like it took ages. In truth, however, Jon Favreau’s successful spinoff series took only a year to return, with third and fourth seasons already in the works. A huge part of the reason for The Mandalorian’s first season success can be attributed to Baby Yoda and the hold the character immediately had over Star Wars fans. But of course, The Mandalorian has more to offer than just one character, and Favreau has managed to blend numerous genres to make the series feel perfectly at home within the Star Wars universe. This is no easy task, and the fact that additional seasons have been confirmed is proof that Favreau has the series’ direction mapped out – something that can only be done when there’s a firm grasp on the plot.

For now, however, fans are pleased to focus their collective energies on The Mandalorian’s second season. Much is left to be revealed, and each new episode offers a dose of information about Din Djarin, Baby Yoda, and the direction of the series as a whole. It’s an excellent mixture of Star Wars lore, and to celebrate this connection with what’s come before and what’s yet to come, artist @thebutcherbilly has posted a new (but old-looking) poster for The Mandalorian’s second season on his Instagram account. Check out the vintage-looking artwork below:

As fans will know, the poster references the huge battle in the first episode of the new season. A krayt dragon is making life for the inhabitants of the Tatooine town of Mos Pelgo miserable, and Djarin steps in to help. Once again, the episode mixes the old with the new, allowing the Mandalorian and Baby Yoda to head to the home planet of Luke Skywalker. It was a treat for fans to see another aspect of Tatooine, and this poster perfectly captures the episode, classic Star Wars, and The Mandalorian’s incorporation into it all. Unfortunately, the poster does not appear to be for sale in @thebutcherbilly’s shop.

Merchandise has proven to be another major aspect of The Mandalorian’s success, though this didn’t initially prove to be the case. As the series continues to build momentum and new secrets are revealed, there’s sure to be even more merchandise and artwork in the coming weeks, months, and years. It will be interesting to see just how much deeper the Star Wars connection goes. Hopefully, artists like @thebutcherbilly continue to treat fans to their unique takes on the franchise.
