It's every fan's dream to meet their favorite celebrity. But some go even further and get to actually hang out with their favorite actor, musician, or other Hollywood figure. And for a lucky few, a romance might actually brew. It seems a thing of movies and TV show plots, but it has actually happened.
In some instances, a mega-star has walked into the life of someone who was simply doing their job as a waitress, attending a concert, or even styling hair, and not only met the person they admire on-screen but went on to have a relationship with them. A-list actor, Matt Damon's story is one of the best known, and a marriage that still endures. But there are others as well!
10 Matt Damon
Damon was filming the movie Stuck on You in Miami back in 2003 when he went out for a bite to eat and locked eyes with a beautiful waitress. Her name was Luciana Barroso and Damon just knew she was "the one."
They began dating then got married in 2005. They are going strong and despite Damon's star power continuing to rise, Barroso remains largely out of the spotlight. The pair have three kids together.
9 Luke Perry
Perry was one of the biggest heartthrobs of the '90s thanks to his role as the brooding Dylan McKay on Beverly Hills, 90210. He recently became popular among a new legion of fans on the series Riverdale, where he played Archie's dad Fred Andrews up until his untimely death. The late Perry had mountains of fan mail being sent to him daily back in the '90s and was constantly being approached by adoring female fans. It seemed an impossibility that he would ever actually fall for one of them.
But he did. There were rumors that Rachel Minnie Sharp, who sold furniture, sent Perry her underwear in the mail and that got his attention. But the actor insisted they simply met at a restaurant. They got married in 1993 after dating for two years but divorced a decade later. They have two children together.
8 Ringo Starr
Maureen Starkey Tigrett (Cox) was a hairdresser and a massive fan of The Beatles who attended many of their concerts. As if she had willed it to happen, Ringo Starr eventually noticed her, and they began dating, reportedly in secret.
They started dating just before The Beatles became the biggest pop boy band at the time. They got married in 1965 but the fact that The Beatles were getting more and more famous took its toll and they divorced a decade later.
7 Billie Joe Armstrong
It has been more than 25 years since the frontman of Green Day met Adrienne Nesser, who is the sister of professional skateboarder Steve Nesser, backstage at one of his concerts. After seeing Green Day perform at a party, she liked the music and decided to attend one of their concerts and buy their album.
There was an instant connection, though they didn't date until some time later. They married on a whim in 1994, shortly before discovering that Nesser was pregnant with their first child. The marriage has endured and the couple now has two kids together.
6 Nicolas Cage
Another case of the waitress meeting her on-screen idol while working and him becoming enamored with her, this one happened quite quickly. Despite the 20-year age difference, Cage and Alice Kim started dating and eventually married.
They share a son and were together from 2004 through to 2016 when they separated. Cage is known for appearing in a string of box office successes and is recalled as much for his varying hairstyles in movies as he is for the roles themselves.
5 Patrick Dempsey
In one of the craziest stories, Jillian Fink was looking at her appointment book one day when she arrived at the hair salon where she worked and saw the name, Patrick Dempsey. No way did she think it was that Patrick Dempsey. But it turns out it was.
It was the mid-1990s, before Dempsey's reputation as "McDreamy." But he was still considered a heartthrob. They began a flirting relationship that lasted for three years worth of haircuts! They eventually started dating, married in 1999, and now share three children together. While they once filed for divorce, they later reconciled and remain together.
4 Ruben Studdard
The American Idol winner, one of the first 10 ever on the series, was doing a standard CD signing at a local Walmart when a fan in line caught his eye, and it was destiny. Studdard and Sarata Zuri McCants started dating in 2006 and tied the knot in 2008.
It didn't last and they split in 2011. Nonetheless, McCants had just shown up to get an autograph from a music artist she admired and ended up getting far more than she could ever have dreamed.
3 Kelsey Grammer
It's unknown if Kayte Walsh was a fan of Grammer's work, which most notably included his starring role on the Cheers spin-off Frasier, or just knew who he was. Nonetheless, when the pair met on a flight where Grammer was traveling and Walsh was working as a flight attendant, a flirtation turned into love.
Walsh, 25 years younger than Grammer, began dating the veteran actor and they married in 2011, only a few weeks after his divorce from long-time wife Camille Grammer was finalized. They now share three children together.
2 Corey Feldman
Feldman felt compelled to break his rule of never dating a fan or random person he met in a night club when he met Susie Sprague. She was celebrating her 19th birthday and had already enjoyed some fame herself as a Playboy playmate.
In 2002, the two went on to marry on television for Feldman's reality show The Two Coreys, which also starred the late Corey Haim. Feldman and Susie, however, divorced in 2014.
1 Danny Bonaduce
Best known as a child actor on The Partridge Family, while Bonaduce's divorce was being finalized with his second wife, Gretchen Hillmer, he began dating Amy Railsback. She was a teacher and simply approached him at a Starbucks to say she loved his reality show, Breaking Bonaduce.
Apparently, he liked her, too, and they dated for three years before marrying in 2010. Railsback, who is 23 years younger than Bonaduce, now manages his career, runs a production company, and appears in the occasional sketch on TV.
