After the Disney purchase of Lucasfilm, previous stories set in the Star Wars universe went from being canon to legends. This brand new legends line meant that all of these stories could have still happened, but aren't considered part of the main continuity; as if they are stories told about these characters based on fables and rumors in the galaxy.
In the years since there's been a number of ret-cons to the current canon that includes some elements from the legends stories. In fact, some of them could mostly fit into this new canon timeline, without interfering all that much with the current continuity.
10 Shadows Of The Empire
Shadows of the Empire was one of the most ambitious projects that Lucasfilm ever put together. Set between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi the story encompassed games, books, and even comics.
It introduced fans to brand new characters, but it also filled in some of the gaps in the plot in regards to how the group saved Han Solo from Jabba the Hutt and other small details. In many ways, this story could still work, since it actually has a lot of connective tissue to the films.
9 Thrawn Trilogy
Thrawn is considered to be one of the greatest characters from the Star Wars Expanded Universe. However, his original trilogy was deemed to be a part of legends content, with the character seemingly being removed from the timeline.
Thanks to the return of Timothy Zahn, as well as the character's appearance in Rebels, Thrawn is canon again. His original novels could still have a lot of truth in them though since they are by the same author, feature similar elements in the timeline, and ultimately are based on the exact same character.
8 The Force Unleashed
The Force Unleashed series of games still sit in an unknown region. It's neither been confirmed nor denied that these are now legends properties, as in theory they very much still could have happened. The Starkiller project was secretive after all.
The story is one of the most important ones that Lucasfilm has put together, outside of the main films. With Darth Vader looking to create his own apprentice, there are many elements that allow this to feel as if it is still canon. There was even a point that Dave Filoni thought about bringing in Galen Marek to Rebels.
7 The Clone Wars
Fans will be familiar with the characters from the Clone Wars era thanks to the Lucasfilm animated show. But before Ahsoka Tano came along there was actually an original series with the same name, albeit a slightly different animation style.
Including characters like Ventress much earlier than her rise to stardom, the show has so many elements that could absolutely fit within the current timeline and has a lot of influences in its spiritual successor.
6 Tales From The Mos Eisley Cantina
There's been a great number of novels from across the Expanded Universe over the years, but one that managed to open up the world a little further and explore the side characters was Tales From The Most Eisley Cantina.
The book contains a number of short stories, that have eventually gone on to inspire the From A Certain Point Of View series. However, with so many of them linked to the events of the film, it's easy to see that they could certainly be canon and just be a snapshot of the lives of these characters.
5 Knights Of The Old Republic
The Knights Of The Old Republic era is a complex one for Star Wars. Since it is so long ago there are very few ways that it can impact the current timeline. Many fans still consider these games to be canon, therefore.
What's more, there have been recent signs that there are many links, from mentions of the characters from these games to the inclusion of a Krayt Dragon mission in a recent episode of The Mandalorian. Needless to say, these much loved games will likely always have an influence on the galaxy far far away.
4 The Old Republic
The Old Republic online game complicates matters further as this is a title that Disney is still allowing to run. Once again, it's set too far back to ever have a negative impact and it appears the company is working in some capacity with this area of the franchise.
The launch of the High Republic will likely showcase whether this area of the timeline links in any capacity. Since the Old Republic itself has often been mentioned elsewhere in the franchise, the game should mostly be considered canon.
3 Darth Plagueis
Darth Plagueis the wise was Palpatine's former master before he struck him down and took his place. The character has been mentioned in all sorts of areas across the Star Wars universe and is very much a part of the canon.
A book was released with the titular character's story being unraveled. It's been called a legends story, but everything about it seems to fit with the new wave of storytelling from Disney. It's probable that most of the details in the book are still considered canon, despite the legends banner.
2 Republic Commando
The Republic Commando game looked at an elite squad of troopers during the Clone Wars, who carried out very intense and difficult missions. The game was a big success and many fans still look back on it fondly.
The Republic Commandos themselves have been brought into canon thanks to their appearance in the Clone Wars animated show and with the missions themselves actually playing into events such as the Battle for Kashyyk, it seems the game should be considered mostly canon.
1 Path Of Destruction
Path of Destruction was based on the incredibly famous Sith Lord, Darth Bane. The character is incredibly popular in the franchise, but it's always been unclear whether he is canon or not, that is until his appearance in Clone Wars.
The character is a very dark force within the galaxy and has had his influence over the Sith even in death. The book once again doesn't impact the timeline too much and since the character has been linked to the modern version of the franchise, there's still hope for Bane and indeed Revan fans.
