The show is a departure from what fans are used to, and there’s a need to familiarize oneself with the elements that will be presented in Loki. For this reason, fans should watch TV shows that have already tackled these kinds of themes. Along with that, certain other series give a good presentation of the MCU that will help present a context for Loki.

10 WandaVision (2020)

After the events of Avengers: Endgame, Scarlet Witch and Vision live in a suburban home as part of their normal lives. However, the couple soon begins to realize that things are not as they seem when everything starts to resemble a sitcom.

The first TV series as part of Phase Four, WandaVision is a natural pitstop to understand how the Disney+ shows will be conducted. It focuses on the relationship of the titular characters by bringing in a unique twist of the sitcom genre and by answering long-burning questions about the protagonists.

9 Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2013-2020)

S.H.I.E.L.D. agents form their own subgroups as a way to combat threats to Earth that don’t reach the public eye. Led by Agent Phil Coulson, the team encounters both otherworldly antagonists as well as the machinations of HYDRA.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is a series that fans feel gets better by each season, although the main reason to check this show out would be to gain an understanding of how MCU shows work. Not to mention the link between Coulson and Loki since the latter was the one to fatally injure the agent.

8 Lucifer (2016-Present)

The devil himself abandons Hell and moves to Los Angeles to open a nightclub and engage in a hedonistic lifestyle. After encountering the cop Chloe Decker, Lucifer develops a liking for solving crimes and teams with Chloe to take down baddies who have a link to supernatural happenings.

It’s remarkable how the character development of the devil is handled in this series. Like Loki, Lucifer is someone who loves his mischievous antics and initially only thinks of himself. There’s a lot of similarities to be found in both characters, although Lucifer very much stands on its as a series.

7 Spider-Man: The Animated Series (1994-1998)

The Amazing Spider-Man navigates his way around the city as an up-and-coming superhero. With most of the city turned against him due to the Daily Bugle, and the villains catching him off guard, Spider-Man has to do his best to stay ahead of crimes that have lethal consequences.

A viewing of this show is deserved due to Spider-Man: The Animated Series being a trailblazer for superhero series. It was Marvel’s first genuine hits to be adapted, with a close resemblance to themes of the comics. There are also larger-than-life elements that are sure to be seen in Loki as well.

6 The Mandalorian (2019-Present)

Five years after the fall of the Empire, a Mandalorian bounty hunter is hired to deliver the infant Grogu to Imperial forces. However, after bonding with the child, the bounty hunter decides to protect him from those who want to claim the infant for his connection to the Force.

Featuring imminently likable characters and a solid theme about fatherhood, the Mandalorian is the first success of the Disney+ service. Also created by Iron Man director Jon Favreau, this story is one that will have a close resemblance to Loki due to the inputs of many similar producers from the MCU.

5 The Night Manager (2016)

A former soldier of the British army who now works as a luxury hotel night manager is recruited to infiltrate the operations of an arms dealer. With the backing of the Foreign Commonwealth Office, this is a clandestine project that has dangerous connections.

The Night Manager has inherently complex characters involved, with Loki star Tom Hiddleston being the main cast member here. This was the actor’s first leading role in TV and he did not disappoint, with Hiddleston bagging the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor. The series’ quality premise is sure to engage new fans as well.

4 Batman Beyond (1999-2001)

Decades after Bruce Wayne ceased being Batman, a teenager named Terry McGinnis stumbles upon the legacy of the Caped Crusader. With Bruce as his mentor, Terry takes the mantle of the Batman as futuristic enemies surface to threaten Gotham again.

There’s a particular charm about the risk-taking that Batman Beyond engages in by bringing a fresh face as the main character. Loki is about to deliver along the same lines by turning the titular character into a protagonist, and Batman Beyond’s liberty with the subject matter has a superb edge to it that Loki fans will relate to.

3 The Hollow Crown (2012-2016)

A dramatic take on the lives and politics of Middle-Age English kings, The Hollow Crown chronicles the events that happened to these monarchs. As the chronology shifts through the years, the ultimate fates of every king reaches its conclusion.

While the runtimes of each episode are about the same length as a film, this series employs the use of expanded storytelling techniques along the likes of Sherlock. Tom Hiddleston stars as Henry V, who can be viewed as a darker take on Loki and will delight fans in his portrayal of another character of royalty.

2 What/If (2019)

In order to garner funding for her startup, a scientist accepts a moral-challenging deal from an investor whose links are shrouded in mystery. Although she considers herself as a person with ethics, events eventually force everyone involved to do unacceptable things.

When it comes to the neo-noir genre, What/If accomplishes its task of keeping viewers guessing and being wowed by the visuals. Loki will be banking heavily on the visual appeal as well, along with presenting a plot that’s hard to predict. What/If and its many twists and turns is the best place to train oneself in this form of storytelling.

1 Legends Of Tomorrow (2016-Present)

When the evil Vandal Savage attempts to interfere with time to rise to power, a team of superheroes band together in order to stop Savage’s plans. This takes them in numerous timelines, all of which can be doomed if the Legends don’t save the day.

Legends of Tomorrow is considered a show that keeps getting better and better over the years. Its fast-paced and fun premise makes it an easy watch and a great entry in the superhero genre. Loki will see the trickster take off across various eras himself, making Legends of Tomorrow something of a sister series.
