Dancing With the Stars is one of the most beloved reality television shows of all time. It combines many great elements, like professional dancers, well-known celebrities, grueling practices and training sessions, and intense elimination rounds to create high drama and high entertainment every week. Season after season, fans tune in to see which combination of professional dancer and high-stepping celeb will reign supreme.
The dancers featured in the series are legit and are some of the most talented folk in their craft. While no Dancing With The Stars professional is exactly subpar, some rank slightly higher than others when it comes to the Cha Cha, the Waltz, and Ballroom.
10 Lacey Schwimmer
Fans first met Morman-born Lacey on the hit television show So You Think You Can Dance season three, where she made it to the final round. Immediately fans everywhere fell in love with her dancing abilities and her spunky personality. She went on to work on the reality television giant, Dancing With The Stars, for six seasons. Schwimmer delighted fans with her choreography and quick feet but ultimately left the show and moved onto greener pastures.
9 Kym Johnson
This beautiful Aussie ballroom dancer first appeared on the Down Under version of the dance competition series before moving to the States to film Dancing With the Stars in 2006. She departed the series in 2015 only to make a comeback in 2o2o. During her time on the show, she served as runner up, first with Joey Fatone and then with former NFL player Warren Sapp. In season nine, she managed to take home the big title with Donnie Osmond. That win made Kym the only professional to win a title in Australia and America. She really struck it big, though, in season twenty, where she found love with Robert Herjavec.
8 Peta Murgatroyd
Peta is basically a dancing Goddess. More than once, she led her less-than-stellar partners much farther than they ever would have gone without her guidance. The bombshell dance queen helped celebrity partners snag the top spot over her years on the show.
Peta also gave fans one of the all-time best freestyle dances in show history. In season twenty, Peta and Nyle DiMarco wowed onlookers with a dance that helped them win the series.
7 Artem Chigvintsev
One minute Artem Chigvintsev was a troupe member, and the next, he was a fan-favorite professional dancer on one of television's biggest shows. He danced into our lives in season nineteen and then broke hearts everywhere when he was not cast in seasons twenty-one and twenty-eight. Artem is a force on the dance floor, and his moves helped him catch the eye of former celebrity partner, Nikki Bella. The two now have a beautiful baby boy together and are planning on getting married.
6 Karina Smirnoff
Karina is one of those dancers who just oozes class and sophistication. When she dances, she floats over the stage like a bedazzled ghost. Karina always seemed to get paired up with partners with two left feet, but nonetheless, she always seemed to make the best of things and help contestants appear more talented than they actually were. When it comes to dancing professionals, Karina is truly one of the very best.
5 Cheryl Burke
Cheryl Burke is one of the most recognized dancing professionals to ever come out of the hit reality series. She established herself as one of the top dancers right out of the gate, winning both seasons one and two. She then went sixteen seasons without a win.
Eventually, Burke took some time away from the world of professional dancing before coming back in season twenty-three, where she quickly reminded everyone why she is an all-time great. Even when she doesn't win, she is a star in fans books.
4 Val Chmerkovskiy
Val is one half of the powerhouse dancing brother duo that appears on the show. Val has a big personality and even bigger dance moves that have helped him become one of the show's all-time favorite movers and shakers. Val and partner Rumor Willis danced their way to the top of the show's most favorite couples list. Their performances were consistently some of the best fans had ever seen, week after week. Val has two season wins to his name, including a season twenty-nine win with former Bachelorette star, and many believe that he should have taken the top spot in season twenty-four, where he danced with Normani. She is one of the celebrities fans think deserves a second chance at a win.
3 Julianne Hough
Julianne Hough is synonymous with the series in general. After watching Hough earn the title as number one in early seasons, it became difficult to imagine the show without her. Fans had to do just that with Julianne left to try her hand at other talents, like acting, appearing on shows like America's Got Talent, and singing. She later made her comeback, but this time as a judge. Oh yeah, this lady is certainly a dancing pro. She can perform and assess the performances of others.
2 Mark Ballas
Mark Ballas is one of the best male performers to ever come out of the series, and he ranks right up there at the top of the list. This professional proved an absolute machine in his field of expertise, trotting away in seventeen consecutive seasons. No break needed for dancing great Mark Ballas. During his time on the show, he earned two winning titles. His two wins don't accurately reflect how great he was on the dancefloor. If it were up to his fans, he would have won many more.
1 Derek Hough
Julianne's brother Derek Hough reigns supreme in any list of all-time greatest professional dancers on Dancing With the Stars. Hough has won more first-place titles than any other professional on the show. He has taken the top spot home six times. Derek has also snagged coveted Emmy awards, no small feat to be sure, and landed a spot on the judge's panel. Some of the most intriguing performances that viewers have ever seen came from the mind of Derek Hough. He is a savant at dance choreography.
