Epic Games Store Holiday Sale Will Make A New Game Free Every Day

The Epic Games Store is gearing up to celebrate the holidays with a seasonal sale and two weeks’ worth of free games. The digital storefront was launched by Epic Games, best known for the hit battle royale title Fortnite, in 2018. In the years following, the platform amassed a large user base despite the controversy surrounding its exclusivity policies.

One of the most recent games to announce an exclusivity deal with the Epic Games Store is Red Hook’s hotly anticipated sequel, Darkest Dungeon 2. Alongside a trailer showing off the game’s new 3D art direction, the developer shared the news that Darkest Dungeon 2 would be entering into Early Access on the Epic Games Store in 2021. However, the digital store’s feature may be a little less exclusive in the near future in light of a piece of news from GOG, another digital distributor. As part of GOG’s rollout of GOG Galaxy 2.0, players may be able to buy Epic Games Store exclusives directly. The initial plans have some restrictions though, it seems the feature could be invite-only and even the few with the option will have limited games to choose from.

Today, the Epic Games Store announced not only the date of its holiday sale, but also that the sale would coincide with a large game giveaway. The Epic Games Store Holiday Sale will kick off on December 17 and allow players to pick up titles on the digital platform for up to 75 percent off its normal price. In addition to these discounts, the store is also going to be giving away one free game, starting December 17, every day for 15 days. Epic’s 15 days of free games promotion is open to any gamer with an Epic account, but the game must be claimed within 24 hours. Once the game is claimed, however, it will stay permanently in the player’s account. The Epic Games Store team encourages those interested to wishlist games now in order to get notified if it goes on sale.

Free game offerings are not new to the Epic Games Store, especially during the holidays. The virtual storefront just celebrated Halloween by handing out some spooky titles by the handful. However, complimentary titles are also a regular part of the service, seasonal festivities or no. Right now, players can pick up a pair of Obsidian RPG’s for free until December 17 when the holiday sale begins.

Gaming during the holidays can be hectic in a great way and keeping up with the various events and offers can be tough. If festive discounts and two weeks of free games from the Epic Games Store sounds nice, it might be a good idea to mark the calendar now.
