Gal Gadot Didn't Film Any Justice League Reshoots For Snyder Cut

Gal Gadot confirms she did not shoot any additional scenes for Zack Snyder's Justice League as part of the recent reshoots. The Snyder Cut was officially announced in the spring of 2020 after a nearly three-year campaign by fans to see Snyder's vision for the movie completed. The deal for Justice League to go to HBO Max didn't just include the resources to finish the version of the movie Snyder had shot for a theatrical release in 2017, but he was also allowed to do some quick reshoots this past fall.

While some of the reshoots likely were done to make minor changes to help with Justice League's new episodic format, we know that brand new scenes were filmed too. The initial confirmation of these reshoots included news that Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, and Ray Fisher would all return. It was later revealed that the reshoots also included Ezra Miller (Flash), Amber Heard (Mera), Jared Leto (Joker), and Joe Manganiello (Deathstroke). While Cavill denied filming any new scenes for Justice League, he and Jason Momoa were believed to be the only main cast members not involved. However, it turns out Wonder Woman wasn't there either.

As part of the press circuit for Wonder Woman 1984's upcoming release in theaters and on HBO Max, star Gal Gadot spoke to MTV News about the movie. The topic of Zack Snyder's Justice League came up and Gadot was asked if she took part in the recent reshoots. Despite being reported to be involved with the reshoots, Gadot confirmed that she did not film any new scenes for the Snyder Cut. She said, "No, I didn’t. I didn’t shoot anything, I didn’t see anything. I’m very much looking forward to watching Zack’s cut."

It is unclear at the moment if Gadot was at one point supposed to return for the reshoots and the plan changed or if she was never going to be involved. No matter what the case may be, we now know that Gadot wasn't part of any of the new footage Snyder shot. Even without filming new scenes, fans will still see plenty of new footage with Wonder Woman in Zack Snyder's Justice League. The marketing has teased pieces of her original role that has now been restored, and those who have been keeping track of everything Snyder has released know just how important of a part she'll play.

Of course, fans will get their fix of new Wonder Woman footage much sooner with the release of Wonder Woman 1984. Following Patty Jenkins' recent comments about how the theatrical cut of Justice League contradicted elements of the sequel, it will be fascinating to see if and how Wonder Woman 1984 ties into the Snyder Cut. Should the sequel have any connections to what Snyder originally planned for Wonder Woman's arc, the Snyder Cut's release in March will allow Justice League to potentially connect the dots rather quickly.
