Legendary Atlanta queen Tamisha Iman is here to educate the children on RuPaul's Drag Race season 13. It is always interesting when Drag Race casts a queen who has a huge reputation in her local drag scene and is respected by many. In some ways, it is great for them to get this type of exposure and finally cash in on so many years of hard work. On the other hand, there's always the fear that one's age might affect how competitive they can be on the show.
There's something to be said about bringing decades of experience to the Drag Race stage, and it is definitely something that was beneficial to queens like Bianca Del Rio, Raja, and Chad Michaels, to name a few. But it isn't always easy to compete against so many queens who are currently peaking in their drag careers when you know that you have certain age-related limitations. Still, it is always wondering to get to meet these queens, root for them to go far, and hear about their experiences living in a world where being gay and doing drag wasn't as commonplace as it is now.
Originally from Burningham, Alabama, RuPaul's Drag Race season 13 star Tamisha Iman is a revered queen in the drag scene in Atlanta, Georgia. She is 42 years old, which makes her the oldest contestant in this cast of queens. Overall, she has worked in drag for 30 years, which makes her a very seasoned queen. Tamisha considers herself a one-woman production: she makes most of her outfits, does her own hair and makeup, and believes that no one else could get her ready as the full fantasy that she wants to present. Interestingly, Tamisha was cast on Drag Race alongside LaLa Ri, who happens to be her drag daughter. The fans are interested in seeing how this storyline will unfold on the show. For now, you can follow Tamisha Iman on Instagram.
During her Drag Race Meet The Queens interview, Tamisha Iman had nothing but great words to say about LaLa Ri. However, as the competition heats up, it should be interesting to see where this familial relationship will go and how it will evolve. After all, they're both going on the show to snatch a crown, but competing against someone that you have an existing relationship with can be tough.
The Drag Race season 13 premiere is closer by the day. Tune in to find out which queen will rise to the top!
