Ivan Hall was eliminated from The Bachelorette for not being religious, but he praised Matt James for expressing his faith right away on The Bachelor premiere. Christianity is not a new element to the Bachelor franchise. Most of the people who get cast on the show identify as Christian and talk openly about their faith. There have obviously been contestants of different faiths in the past, as well as contestants who don't subscribe to any particular religion. But more often than not, the show is centered around leads and contestants who identify as Christians.
And yet, something very interesting happened on the latest season of The Bachelorette. Just as Tayshia Adams got close to the grand finale, she suddenly brought up to Ivan Hall that maybe they didn't belong together because he wasn't as religious as she is. This threw Bachelor Nation completely off, considering that such conversations had never been brought up before in the season. The fans weren't even aware that Tayshia was super religious, nor that Ivan wasn't a person of faith.
On the latest episode of The Viall Files, Ivan Hall praised the fact that Matt James led a group prayer during The Bachelor premiere. Host Nick Viall brought up the fact that some fans loved the fact that Matt dedicated some time on the show to pray, but that there were also fans who were apparently thrown off by the lead asking all of the women to pray along with him. This was a relevant question to talk about with Ivan Hall, given that he was literally eliminated from The Bachelorette for not being religious. Ivan said about Matt's prayer, "I think that was a great move for him. (...) That's a big part of his life, so I think that was great for him to show to the women so that they know where he stands." Ivan added that the prayer also helped Matt to bring up the fact that he's a religious man early in the season. This could be a reference to the fact that Tayshia's choice to send Ivan home on The Bachelorette due to religion was a complete shock to the fans. You can watch Ivan's entire interview with Nick Viall below.
Regardless of how his elimination played out on The Bachelorette, Ivan Hall is clearly not holding any grudges against the franchise or how religion is portrayed on the show. Many fans have been calling for Ivan Hall to be the next lead of The Bachelor, but there's a long line of other men who want to star on the show and have the support of Bachelor Nation.
For now, we can keep up with The Bachelorette fan-favorite Ivan Hall through social media. Hopefully, the fans will get to watch him on TV again sometime soon.
