Big Brother: Andy Herren Calls Out Silent & Conservative Contestants

Big Brother 15 winner Andy Herren blasts contestants who stay silent about politics and calls Danielle Murphree, Cody Nickson, and Jessica Graf "racist garbage." The fans got to know Andy Herren in 2013, when he competed on BB15 and became the first openly gay man to win the series. Andy was a competitive houseguest who won three Head of Household competitions and two Power of Veto competitions, but his biggest strengths were in his social game and his ability to strategize while playing the game. All season long, Andy was only nominated once. In the end, he won the $500,000 grand prize by a 7-2 jury vote.

Over the years, the fans have considered Big Brother 15 to be one of the most racist seasons of the show. There was plenty of good gameplay happening in the season, but certain problematic statements and behaviors tainted the collective memory of how BB15 went. Nonetheless, Andy and some of his season 15 co-stars have actively detached themselves from the problematic contestants featured on that season, and have become some of the most vocal voices within the Big Brother community when it comes to politics and other social issues. Now, Andy is once again using his platform to address the behaviors of other BB alumni.

On Reddit, Big Brother fan asked if the houseguests were contractually prohibited to talk about politics online, stating how weird it was that so many contestants never talked about the Black Lives Matter movement or about the storming of the US Capitol. Andy Herren answered that question and shared it on Twitter (as seen below). The BB15 winner wrote, "We are definitely allowed to but most don't because they're afraid to lose followers (which is pathetic) or they're literally racist MAGA garbage (Cody and Jessica, Danielle Murphree, Hayden Moss)! It's a bummer!" Andy has certainly denounced silent and/or conservative houseguests in the past, but this is a new chapter in the discourse given that 2021 started with so many unsubstantiated conspiracies related to the 2020 election results and already had a very dangerous riot.

Some of the former BB houseguests that Andy Herren called out aren't known for staying silent whenever they are attacked, so the jury is still out on whether Danielle Murphree, Jessica Graf, Cody Nickson, or Hayden Moss will respond to Andy's statement. With that said, these people have gotten into very public arguments in the past, and it's unclear if they will choose to engage once again.

The Big Brother fandom will keep paying attention to what their favorite reality TV stars say and do. Expect the unexpected!
