At Disneyland's California Adventure Park over on the Pacific Wharf, there exists one of the best casual Disney restaurants ever created within the park. While the COVID-19 pandemic has left much of Disneyland in a state of uncertainty, Wine Country Trattoria remains one of the premiere reasons why people can't wait to go back.
It's nice to have things to look forward to and Wine Country Trattoria will undoubtedly be a major selling point for people who haven't had their fix of Disney in a while. While keeping others safe in the meantime, though, it is also a fun exercise to reflect on the impressive menu at Wine Country Trattoria and consider which items are aces and which leave a bit to be desired.
16 Soup Del Giorno
Nothing at Wine Country Trattoria makes for a bad order, but some are just more uninspiring than others. It's the way of restaurants.
Coming in at the bottom is the resident soup order here. It's always a chef's choice, based on the ingredients in stock back in the kitchen.
15 Caprese Salad
Considering all that Wine Country has to offer, it should be no surprise that soup and salad just won't rank that highly on the menu.
The Caprese salad is definitely a delicious order, but it's also pretty standard fare when it comes to salads. It's solid, if unremarkable.
14 Spaghetti Aglio Olio
Plenty of attractions in the Disney Parks are underrated, but this eatery is clearly properly rated when a delicious dish like this can rank so low.
It's just that everything is a bit better. The spaghetti is tossed to perfection with a delicious combination of vegetables and garlic comprising the flavors. However, other dishes just have more flair.
13 Rib-Eye Steak
One can never go wrong with a rib-eye steak, especially when it comes with honey Brussels sprouts and garlic potatoes.
However, while the steak will obviously be cooked to one's liking, it's still a thirty-eight dollar entree. Tasty? Yes. Worth it? Not necessarily.
12 Fried Calamari
When considering the World Showcase pavilions at Epcot, the Italy pavilion's restaurants are the only ones that could challenge Wine Country Trattoria.
After all, even the fried calamari is out-of-this-world! It's a delicious appetizer to order. Just make sure not to ride any thrill rides immediately after.
11 Osso Buco
Disney foods always err on the pricier side of things, but the osso buco at Wine Country is one of the best bang-for-your-buck entrees present on the menu.
The lamb is cooked to tender perfection and the polenta (that's a porridge-based side) brings out all the best flavors.
10 Wine Country Tiramisu
In spite of the osso buco's brilliance, the tiramisu at Wine Country is the first entry on the second-tier of menu items. It's all worth eating, but these sorts of dishes are just a cut above the ones that have come so far.
The tiramisu is not the best dessert on the menu, but with that delicious Ghirardelli chocolate sauce, one cannot go wrong. It even rivals Wonka flavors!
9 Chicken Parmesan
It's the old reliable dish. One knows exactly what to expect when they order chicken parm: chicken with spaghetti and mozzarella cheese.
While it's undeniably scrumptious at Wine Country, it's still a twenty-five dollar dish that is not entirely mind-blowing.
8 Salmon
Similarly, the salmon dish is not one that is met with a ton of experimentation or creativity. Chefs know that they have to play the hits sometimes, especially at a restaurant largely populated by tourists.
Chicken and fish are staples, after all. It's that dill-butter cream sauce that helps elevate the salmon above the chicken parm, though.
7 Ghirardelli Chocolate And Caramel Panna Cotta
Now, this is the best dessert on the menu. Like the tiramisu, it also comes with the Ghirardelli chocolate sauce. However, every other element is elevated.
The chocolate blends with caramel in an unforgettable way for the taste buds. This panna cotta is truly memorable and a must-order, even if the entrees have left a group full.
6 Rustic Bruschetta
The rustic bruschetta at Wine Country is essentially the equivalent of an appetizer platter/sampler. There is genuine attention paid to blending the flavors together, though.
Artichokes, mushrooms, tomatoes, and onions come together in a way that provides some delectable taste for everyone at the table.
5 Fettuccine Shrimp Alfredo
The fettuccine shrimp alfredo entree is the first one that indicates the arrival into the top-tier of menu items at Wine Country. These dishes are the best offered by the restaurant.
Fettuccine alfredo is already a great meal, but Wine Country throws shrimp into the mix in yet another instance of the brilliant seafood entries.
4 Italian Insalata
This appetizer may not be as filling as the fettuccine, but it does have the benefit of being one of the more unique items on the menu. Not every Disney restaurant has Insalata, after all.
The iceberg lettuce comes with pepperoncinis, olives, tomatoes, cucumbers, and parmesan. It's an interesting, nearly deconstructed take on a salad that is worth one's time.
3 Linguine Alla Vongole
The linguine all vongole is a perfect order for people who might feel uncomfortable eating seafood at a park that celebrates Pixar marine animals and mermaid-connected sea creatures.
There are not many famous Disney clams and clams make up the bulk of the dish. They're cooked to perfection in this white wine sauce that also contains garlic, chili flakes, and parsley. It's one of the best entrees at Disneyland, as a whole.
2 Tuscan Salad
The Tuscan salad is not too challenging of a dish, but it's not about how Wine Country doesn't mess it up; it's about how it elevates it beyond perfection.
The Tuscan salad comes with grape tomatoes, cannellini beans, roasted peppers, and more. It's a creamy salad dish that even adds shrimp to the mix. It might be the best Tuscan salad around.
1 Spaghetti Bolognese
One might think that this dish is a basic one, but just try the flavor combinations devised by Wine Country to understand how this is the best example of a classic dish turned into a thrilling endeavor.
It's spaghetti with meatballs, yes, but it also infuses tomatoes, sausage, and beef into the dish with brilliance. It's a perfect ratio in a perfect dish and one of the park's must-eats.
