Gilmore Girls: 10 Scenes That Make Viewers Nervous When Rewatching

For seven seasons Gilmore Girls brought as much drama as it did comedy. The loving relationship between Lorelai and Rory was heartwarming but the ins and outs of Stars Hollow, the relationship with Emily and Richard, and all of the love interests brought nerve-wracking energy.

After releasing in 2000, diehard fans of Gilmore Girls have watched the series again and again. But it doesn't matter how many times fans have seen the series, there are still plenty of scenes that bring on the nerves as if it was the first time watching it.

10 Emily Vs. Shira

In the episode "We've Got Magic to Do," it finally becomes clear to Emily and Richard how poorly the Huntzberger family treated Rory. And after Shira and Mitchum showed up to Rory's DAR event without RSVPing, Emily had enough. She strutted over to Shira's table and gave her a piece of her mind.

Who can forget when she started the conversation off with, "Now let's talk about your money. You were a two-bit gold digger fresh off the bus from Hicksville when you met Mitchum at whatever bar you happened to stumble into..." Emily singlehandedly destroyed Shira and it was amazing.

9 The Dinner Between Rory & Logan & Jess

When Logan was out of town, Rory and Jess reconnected and conversed about Jess's latest venture, his novel. #TeamJess fans were thrilled when Jess came out of nowhere to whisk Rory away while Logan was out of town but their dreams crashed and burned when Logan showed up abruptly and crashed their reunion.

Logan and Jess both became protective of Rory and had a pissing match throughout the dinner. It was so mortifying that Jess left the dinner early and cussed Rory out for ruining her life by dropping out of Yale and for dating a guy like Logan. Viewers could feel the tension through the screen.

8 Luke & Christopher At Emily & Richard's Vow Renewal

Emily and Richard's vow renewal started out well enough but ended in a dumpster fire. Not only did Emily invite Christopher, but he was wasted and on a mission to win Lorelai back (which only caused more problems with Luke). Things got worse when Lorelai, Luke, and Christopher walked in on Rory kissing Logan in a back room.

All three adults were pissed at Rory, which then turned into an argument between Christopher and Luke. There were no other words to describe the night other than awful.

7 When Lorelai Tells Luke She Slept With Christopher

Life for Luke and Lorelai only got harder when they became engaged. They were renovating Lorelai's home, Rory stopped talking to Lorelai, and then Luke found out he had a 12-year-old daughter. Life became cloudy for the duo.

Lorelai felt like she was losing Luke, so she gave him an ultimatum. Either they get married right then and there or they're done. Luke was stunned and didn't know what to say but Lorelai took that as a no. In classic Lorelai fashion, she drove to Christopher's house to vent and slept with him. Like clockwork, Luke showed up at her house the next day to get married and Lorelai dropped the bombshell. The look on Luke's face was heartbreaking.

6 When Lorelai Couldn't Think Of A Favorite Moment With Her Dad

In the reboot A Year in the Life, Richard Gilmore passed away and the Gilmore women were left grieving. Emily hosted a marvelous funeral in his memory at her home, which ended in late-night conversations. While the drinks were flowing, everyone went around and said their favorite memory with Richard.

The look on Lorelai's face proved that she couldn't think of one. Fans couldn't stop Lorelai from trying to climb out of her skin. It was almost too awkward to watch.

5 When Luke Pushes Jess

Luke thought he was doing a good thing by bringing his nephew into his home to start a new life in Stars Hollow. Sadly, Luke was in over his head.

In one hilarious yet nervewracking scene, Luke questions Jess if he really did steal from Taylor's store. When Jess's response wasn't what Luke was looking for, he pushes Jess into the lake. The moment was both unexpected and humorous.

4 When Rory Doesn't Come Home After The School Dance

The night of Rory's school dance was a big deal for her. It was Rory's first dance and she was going with her first boyfriend, Dean. Emily knew it was a big night for Rory, so she stopped over at Rory and Lorelai's house to send her off. Emily ended up spending the night at Lorelai's, which ended up being awful timing.

Rory had such a great time with Dean that she never made it home. Emily immediately blamed Lorelai and judged her parenting style and Rory's morals. Watching Rory falling asleep with Dean at Miss Patty's dance studio gives fans nightmares.

3 When Lorelai Meets April In The Diner

Luke was shocked when he found out he had a daughter that was 12 years old. He was so shocked, in fact, that it took him two months to tell Lorelai. And unfortunately, he didn't get to tell Lorelai on his own terms.

Lorelai saw April refilling the salt and pepper shakers at the diners and struck a conversation with her, which is when she learned that her dad was Luke. Viewers knew nothing good could come from this interaction. After all, Luke should have told Lorelai months before.

2 Rory Vs. Marty

Marty was one of the first friends Rory meets at Yale. They had a similar sense of humor and loved to judge Paris together while snacking on their favorite foods.

Unsurprisingly, Marty had a crush on Rory but Rory didn't feel the same way. Their friendship slowly declined after this. Years later, Rory becomes friends with a woman named Lucy who happened to be dating Marty. But right before Rory could say anything about knowing Marty, he introduced himself and acted like he didn't know her! Logan couldn't take the awkwardness and called Marty out in front of Lucy. It was one of the most uncomfortable scenes.

1 The Night Of The Keg Party

The night of the keg party was a big one for most of the characters. It was one of the last times Rory and Jess were together in their relationship and it ended horribly.

It became evident to Rory that Jess was trying to sleep with her but she wasn't ready. She ran down the stairs crying, which is when Dean stepped in and got into a fight with Jess. Meanwhile, Lane got drunk and left a drunk voicemail on her mother's phone about her love for Dave. The entire night was hellfire and fans couldn't get enough knowing what was to come.
