In a perfect team-up that could only come from fan art, Wade Wilson partners with Baby Yoda in this Deadpool 3 poster. Ryan Reynolds first played fan favorite Marvel Comics character Wade, aka Deadpool, in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine, though it was hardly in the way he wanted to. That movie sewed up Wade's famously loud mouth and stripped him of everything that made him special. After years of leaving him on the shelf, Reynolds got the chance to redeem Deadpool with a properly R-rated solo movie in 2016. Deadpool won over fans instantly and earned a sequel in 2018.
Since then, Deadpool 3 has been a bit slower to arrive, largely because of Disney's acquisition of Fox a couple of years ago. That deal put Wade back under Marvel Studios' umbrella, which raised lots of questions about whether he would join the MCU. Reynolds confirmed Deadpool 3 was in development back in late 2019, but lack of immediate updates cast doubt on the project. Then, earlier this week, Marvel boss Kevin Feige confirmed Deadpool 3 will be set within the MCU, and it will be rated R. That confirmation sent shockwaves of excitement through the fanbase.
The latest Deadpool 3 fan poster takes full advantage of the movie's new home within Disney. Created by BFHDESIGN, the piece pairs Wade with Disney's biggest MVP: Baby Yoda. Yes, The Mandalorian scene stealer is chilling with Deadpool in front of the iconic Disney castle. There are other fun details to note, including the taglines at the bottom and top of the poster. One of the most exciting things about having Deadpool within the MCU family is the prospect of having him interact with other Marvel characters. Sadly, as Baby Yoda belongs to Star Wars, he can automatically be ruled out (though one can probably expect a joke or two about him). When it comes to Marvel characters who could team up with Deadpool, fans are particularly interested in seeing him meet Spider-Man (Tom Holland) because of their comics interactions. Since Deadpool 3 won't begin filming until at least 2022, though, it might be some time before fans learn of any additional Marvel cast members.
If there's one thing that seems certain about Deadpool 3, it's that there will be lots of meta jokes about Disney. Reynolds has already cracked a few online, and the previous Deadpool movies poked fun at Fox and its X-Men franchise. Now that it's clear Deadpool 3 will still be rated R, it feels like the MCU element will only enliven the franchise and open more doors. It's just a shame we have to wait so long to see it.
