The year 2010 was a special one for reality TV. It was the year Gordon Ramsay's Master Chef hit screens, the year The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills began, and it was the year that Jersey Shore was at its highest. With there being so many iconic reality TV shows around this time, there were plenty of shows that didn't get the respect of notoriety they deserved. There was simply too many shows to keep up with.
From networks like VH1, MTV, Bravo, and beyond, competition for the best reality TV show was heavy. There's only so many days in a week — how many TV shows can a person watch! Thanks to streaming services, fans can rewatch some of these under appreciated reality TV shows.
10 Plain Jane
Plain Jane premiered on The CW for one season and followed fashionista, Louise Roe, as she gave random "plain Janes" a complete makeover from head-to-toe. Unlike some shows on networks like TLC, Louise gave her "Janes" challenges to work on that would help with their confidence and finding their purpose.
By the end of the episode, not only did they look completely transformed but they also worked on themselves internally.
9 Real Housewives Of Miami
There were only two cities in Real Housewives history that didn't pan out the way the network hoped: Miami and Washington DC. The Real Housewives of Miami lasted for three seasons before being canceled for low viewership, but it's one of those cities that's still talked about by Bravo fans.
The show focused around prominent figures in Miami who were all friends from the social circle. Among the more notable women was Kim Kardashian's former best friend, Larsa Pippen.
8 3 Days To Open With Bobby Flay
Bobby Flay is a world renowned chef with multiple high-end restaurants and has dabbled in television. He's currently on season 26 of Beat Bobby Flay but not every television show Flay touches turns to gold.
3 Days to Open released on The Food Network and centered around Flay visiting different restaurants that were opening in three days. Within those three days, Flay would give them recommendations to make their business a success. Sadly, the show only lasted for one season and six episodes.
7 9 By Design
Robert and Cortney Novogratz were big time home designers in New York City in the 2010 era before moving to Los Angeles. What made the Novogratzs unique is that they had six children and a busy, successful design business.
9 By Design was a reality show that focused on their thriving business as they tackled large projects on the East Coast. The show was canceled after one season but their family dynamic made for great television. They later had a show on HGTV called Home by Novogratz.
6 America's Worst Driver
After the success of Britain's Worst Driver, the Travel Channel aired America's Worst Driver. The two hosts, comedians Alonzo Bodden and Jill Simonian, put eight different horrible divers through various tests to find out who the worst driver really was.
The contestants would go to drivers education classes to gear up for the competition. Those that past the tests received free prizes and gifts for their car for their good work. But the worst driver in America got their *drum roll, please* car destroyed! This is a show that was gone too soon.
5 Real Housewives Of DC
Bravo's The Real Housewives of DC is another city that was gone too soon. Unlike The Real Housewives of Miami, the ladies of DC only lasted one season. The rumor is that after former housewife Michaele Salahi and her husband breached security and snuck into the U.S. State Dinner back in 2009, Bravo had to ax the show.
Nevertheless, the ladies of DC are missed. There was a lot of political power and class that came with this series.
4 Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It
Rockstar Bret Michaels was not new to the reality TV world. He was the center of VH1's Rock of Love for three seasons in 2007. After the failure of finding love on the show, he went back and found love with he mother of his children, Kristi. The show followed his life as a dad and committed partner.
Viewers had an inside look at his continuing health problems along with his desire to marry Kristi. Bret Michaels is a rock star, but he made great television, too. Sadly, the show only lasted on season.
3 The City
Fans of The Hills were pumped that a spinoff based on the East Coast was happening. Called The City, it now focused on Whitney Port's life in New York City as she began working at Diane von Fürstenberg. Alongside Port was was her boyfriend and fashionista Olivia Palermo.
As intriguing as life in fashion in the big city was, The City only lasted two seasons.
2 Fantasia For Real
Singer Fantasia Barrino won American Idol in season three. Sadly, her stardom didn't last long after her legendary win.
To reinvent herself and take control of her life, Fantasia starred in her own reality show on VH1 called Fantasia For Real. The show followed her and her family as she tried making a comeback. And while Fantasia is still very active today, her reality television series was not a hit.
1 Jerseylicious
One could say TV was fascinated with the state of New Jersey after the success of Jersey Shore. Jerseylicious was another show that released in 2010 that followed six hair stylists at competing salons in a town in New Jersey.
While renovating the salon and styling customers' hair, the women of Jerseylicious were also deeply enthralled in the drama between hair stylists.
