For the next week, Grand Theft Auto Online's Cayo Perico heist will have its payout boosted by 50%, and its setup mission costs waived entirely. This is the latest weekly event in a series of Grand Theft Auto Online events, following the double rewards boost in the diamond adversary series last week, and the release of the Vapid Slamtruck stunt vehicle the week before that.
Rockstar has been finding ways to keep Grand Theft Auto Online players busy, continually adding new features and rewarding them for continuing to play the game eight years later. Between speculating about what a hypothetical Grand Theft Auto 6 map could look like and trying to hit blackjack at the Diamond Casino, there definitely is no shortage of things to do, either in the game itself or out of it.
That list of things got longer with the addition of the lucrative Cayo Perico heist at the end of 2020, which can pay out anywhere between $1,078,000 and $4,570,600, depending on the optional objectives. Now, Rockstar is temporarily raising that limit by 50% for the next week, giving players a chance to earn a minimum of $1,617,000 and a maximum of $6,855,900. Rockstar is also waiving the setup costs entirely during this event, meaning players can get the heist set up, almost free of charge. Players still have to purchase the Kosatka Submarine to plan the heist, which normally costs $2,200,000 (customizations cost extra, potentially raising the cost to $9,085,000).
Luckily, Rockstar is giving a 25% discount on the submarine and its customizations ora 100% discount if players, "connect their Rockstar Games Social Club account with Prime Gaming." This process also grants players "$200K just for playing any time this week." Rockstar is also adding a new vehicle: the Mammoth Squaddie, a light utility vehicle that can be purchased from Warstock Cache & Carry for $1,130,000. Other inclusions this week includes a custom Armored Enus Paragon R that can be won at the Diamond Casino ("previously only available as an award for completing all 6 Casino Missions as host,"), discounts on other vehicles ranging from 25-40%, and a three-times multiplier on cash and RP from Issi Classic races.
Like the previous weeks' events, this week's bonuses and discounts should prove to be helpful for players trying to earn more money via the Cayo Perico heist. A $2 million startup cost for a submarine is hefty, but dropping it to $1,650,000 is a nice discount. But even better is dropping it to $0, so players who have not done the Cayo Perico heist and also have not connected their Rockstar accounts to Prime Gaming should absolutely do so (assuming they already have Prime that is). These boosts end February 10 so Grand Theft Auto Online players should take advantage of the opportunity while they can.
