Mandalorian’s Gina Carano Under Fire For Jeffrey Epstein & Holocaust Posts

Gina Carano, star of the hit Disney+ series The Mandalorian is currently under fire for social media posts regarding Jeffrey Epstein and the Holocaust. Carano had previously stirred up controversy back in November of last year when she posted an anti-mask meme and further pushed the Trump administration’s claims of voter fraud in the 2020 U.S. election.

Carano began to focus on a career in acting after retiring in 2009 from MMA with an impressive record that included 7 wins and 1 loss. For several years she landed roles in a variety of direct to video films as well as major blockbusters like Fast & Furious 6 and Deadpool. But it was arguably her role of Cara Dune in The Mandalorian that has gained her the most recognition to date in her acting career. With the popularity of the Star Wars spin-off series continuing to grow, Carano’s inclusion is important. Still, recent social media posts have threatened to erase the 38-year-old’s acting achievements and instead shine a major spotlight on her political opinions.

Carano's most recent social media missteps have arrived via her Twitter and Instagram accounts. After posting a statement in which she appears to equate the backlash of being a Republican with the persecution of Jews in Nazi Germany, the Mandalorian star went on to offer up a meme that states “Jeff Epstein Didn’t Kill Himself” amid a jumble of letters. At present, the Epstein post remains on her Twitter account, but Instagram has since deleted the Holocaust post. Both can be seen below:

The belief that Jeffrey Epstein didn’t commit suicide but was instead murdered due to his vast connections in the political and celebrity worlds is a relatively common one, but it’s the Holocaust post that has created the highest degree of controversy. A campaign has since been launched online to have Carano dropped from The Mandalorian, using the hashtag #FireGinaCarano. Carano had also previously been accused of transphobia and anti-BLM sentiments, again due to social media posts and comments made. Though many social media users have appealed to Disney to fire Carano, at present, no such decision has been made.

Not only are Carano’s current statements regarding the Holocaust highly offensive and disrespectful, but they demonstrate a lack of professionalism that can’t be disregarded as Carano simply speaking her mind. The European Jewish population during the Nazi regime was targeted because they were believed to be less than human and inferior in all respects. This sort of hatred is not comparable to supporting a political party or candidate and should never be wielded as such.
