In a two-part episode ("The Wedding: Part 1" and "The Wedding: Part 2"), Mitch and Cam attempted to get married in their dream ceremony in front of their friends and family. But as always the case with Modern Family, forces beyond their control disrupted their big day. The only thing they could focus on was the sweet moments hidden under the dramatic ones.

10 Sweetest: The Big Moment

One of the best parts of any wedding is when they finally say "I do" and share their first kiss. For Mitch and Cam, both of them said "I do" with tears in their eyes as the sun was setting and kissed each other happily. It was like the thrill of the day finally wore off and they were finally able to just be together. They were finally husband and husband.

9 Dramatic: The Wildfires Nearly Ruined Their Big Day

Pepper Saltzman was one of Mitch and Cam's best friends and wedding planner. He had everything planned to the last second when tragedy struck: wildfires were approaching their location.

They tried speeding up the ceremony but the fire department couldn't allow it to happen. Pepper was able to find another spot for them to marry but that also fell through. Their last resort was getting married in their home. Luckily for them, Jay saved the day...

8 Sweetest: When Jay Walked Mitchell Down The Aisle

Jay and Mitchell bumped heads throughout the wedding planning process. Even after all of these years, Mitchell still felt like Jay didn't accept his lifestyle. But on the day of the wedding, emotions set in, and everything became a reality for Jay. His son was getting married.

When everyone was taking their seats, Jay decided to hang back and walk Mitch down the aisle. Mitchell was incredibly touched by the gesture and it made the wedding far more tender.

7 Dramatic: Sal Went Into Labor Right Before The Wedding Was Supposed To Start

Sal was one of Mitch and Cam's best friends. They weren't intending on making her the officiant but she assumed she would be and gave herself the title. However, minutes before their ceremony, a very pregnant Sal went into labor.

Mitch and Cam felt like their wedding was ruined. Not only were there fires but their officiant just left. Luckily for them, Phil got ordained for fun and was ready to take on the role.

6 Sweetest: Jay Saved The Day

When Mitch and Cam moved their big day to their home, it felt like the entire mood changed. It was no longer the grand event they had been dreaming of all of their lives. It was now a cozy day at home with their friends and family. Mitch and Cam knew the day felt rushed and couldn't get married in their living room in good faith. Before Cam and Mitch could cancel the entire thing, Jay stepped in and said that he called the country club and secured a spot for their wedding on short notice. They would not get to be married outside during a California sunset.

5 Dramatic: Cam's Parents Practically Broke Up Over The Weekend

Cam was so excited to have his parents there for his big day. While he and Mitch were running around for the big day, Merle and Barb spent time with Jay and Gloria. But the more time Barb spent with Gloria, the more she realized that she was unhappy in her marriage and wanted what Gloria had. Likewise, Merle assumed that everyone "marries up" in their second marriage and was ready to leave Barb. The longtime couple decided on their wedding weekend to split up.

4 Sweetest: Phil & Claire's Sweet Moments As Officiants

With Phil as an officiant, he asked Claire to be his sidekick since she was part of the bridal party. Because Phil's addition was short notice, he tried everything he could to add romantic magic tricks to the ceremony. Even though Claire hated magic, she was willing to help Phil make the day special for her brother. But when the moment came, Phil ignored his magic trick and spoke from the heart. He looked at Claire during his introduction and compared his relationship to magic. The statement was sweet and unexpected.

3 Dramatic: Cameron Was Given The Wrong Tuxedo

At the start of their wedding weekend, Cameron realized he was given the wrong tuxedo from the dry cleaners. But when he, Cam, and Lily showed up at the dry cleaners, it was closed. What was Cam supposed to wear at his wedding?

They fiddled with the entrance long enough for the owner to show up. But by that time, they already had Lily doing their dirty work. She attached herself to the conveyor belt and tried grabbing Cam's tux because she was the only one small enough.

2 Sweetest: Haley Finally Showed Compassion

Haley has a tendency to be self-centered and selfish. The only man she really cared for (besides those in her family) was Dylan, and even that relationship had its sour notes. But things changed for Haley when she met Andy. She started thinking clearly about the world and showed respect for another person her age.

During Cam and Mitch's wedding weekend, she did everything she could to get Andy to stay in the area instead of flying back to Beth. She knew Beth wanted to end things with Andy and she was trying to save him.

1 Dramatic: Phil's Sight

At the start of "The Wedding: Part 1," Phil had an appointment with the eye doctor but the appointment left him with poor sight. He wasn't able to drive and couldn't see clearly. However, he was under strict instruction to pick up Mitch and Cam's gift before the wedding. As always, Phil had some fun with his lack of sight and pretended to be visually impaired. His actions could have cost them the perfect gift for Mitch and Cam (not to mention complete embarrassment).
