When it comes to Star Wars, there is always a real variety in the intelligence of the characters. More often than most, the writers place certain characters in several diplomatic situations or traps to test where their strengths and weaknesses are. This is true with the Skywalker family themselves, who are certainly the most important and influential characters within this story.
There's no doubt that these characters play a huge role within all nine of the movies, but not all of them are incredibly intelligent. They all have different strengths and negatives, and that includes their intelligence, with some being calculated and smart, and others acting first and thinking later. But which member of the Skywalker family is the smartest?
8 Shmi Skywalker-Lars
Out of all the members of the Skywalker family, Shmi is the one that gets less screen time. Because of that, her intelligence isn't able to be truly showcased in the same depth as the other family members. However, it is clear she's not quite as smart as others in the family.
Nevertheless, what she lacks within her intelligence, Shmi more than makes up for with her heart and love for Anakin, which she puts as a priority for everything. Shmi is intelligent enough to know that he needs to move away and train to be a Jedi in order to not deal with a life of slavery, as she has to.
7 Han Solo
Han Solo might be one of the most popular characters in Star Wars history, but that doesn't mean he is one of the most intelligent. Han is the type of character that will act first and then react afterward, often getting himself into trouble with his lack of planning.
Luckily for Han, he is often able to shoot or talk his way out of situations, but there are plenty of moments where he really does showcase poor judgment. While his gung-ho attitude is what makes him so fun, it does stop him from being overly intelligent.
6 Anakin Skywalker
Anakin Skywalker might be incredibly powerful and highly skilled, but he is not somebody who has the ability to truly focus or put his attention into matters. He often makes mistakes because he prefers to rush into things, thinking that he can solve a problem immediately.
While he does have some intelligence with his ability to tinker and fix things, there are many other moments where he is easily influenced, which is how he falls into the dark side in the first place. Plus, when he's Darth Vader, he isn't really the brains behind the operation either.
5 Rey Skywalker
Rey Skywalker is the lead character from the sequel trilogy, and because of that, she gets showcased heavily. She's someone who does have great intelligence when it comes to being hands-on with different pieces of technology, and she also proves that she is adaptable and quick to learn via her teaching from Luke.
However, she is someone who has yet to learn a lot about all aspects of life. Rey isn't very wise when it comes to general life experience as Rey simply hasn't traveled and seen enough to learn about it all.
4 Luke Skywalker
The ultimate Star Wars hero is someone who isn't overly intelligent as he doesn't really showcase great knowledge or thought until the sequel trilogy, where he was in a much wiser position. When it comes to comparing him to other Jedi, Luke isn't one of the smartest.
He learns as he goes and makes big mistakes, which is what makes him such an endearing character throughout the movies. Plus, when it comes to the sequel trilogy, Luke does really step up his intelligence, especially when he tricks Kylo Ren in The Last Jedi.
3 Ben Solo
Ben Solo might spend the sequel movies struggling with the inner turmoil regarding his family links and whether or not he wants to be on the good or dark side, but that doesn't impact his intelligence. Sure, Ben is hot-headed and quick to let his anger get the best of him, but he is also very calculated and smart.
He knows how to get into the heads of other characters and his mind games really are effective throughout the movies. Ben is also great at creating and executing plans, which is probably how he managed to outsmart all his enemies.
2 Padmé Amidala
Padmé Amidala is certainly one of the smartest characters from the prequel trilogy, knowing exactly how to navigate the political field of the galaxy. Amidala has an answer for every possible situation, and she always tries to come up with a logical answer for everything.
She learns a lot through the situations that she endures during the prequel trilogy as well, and her mixture of strength and compassion really does make her a great character.
1 Leia Organa-Skywalker
Princess Leia is certainly the most intelligent character within the Skywalker family, which is clear from the start. Leia is someone who always thinks before she acts, and has a response to any situation or comment from other characters, which is a lot of fun to see.
Throughout the movies, Leia easily gets smarter as she grows into her leadership role, being able to instruct people and provide greater plans. Leia is always calm under pressure and someone who can give advice to anybody, passing on her wisdom to others.
