Captain America is apparently finished in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Still, his story lives on with his fellow Avengers, as Falcon picked up the shield and moved on alongside Bucky Barnes. However, they have a high bar to reach as the three Captain America movies remain some of the best MCU movies of the first three phases.
It all started with the prequel, Captain America: The First Avenger, as Steve Rogers battled Nazis and Hydra in World War II. Captain America: The Winter Soldier moved to the present-day and presented Marvel's first spy/espionage story, and then Captain America: Civil War saw the heroes battle each other. Through it all, the three movies had an amazing cast with some great credits to their names.
10 Chris Evans - Snowpiercer (2013)
Chris Evans has been in more comic book movies than almost anyone in the MCU. On top of his seven appearances in the MCU movies, he also appeared as the Human Torch in Fox's Fantastic Four movies, in the adaptation of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, the movie version of Andy Diggle and Jock's Losers, and as Casey Jones in TMNT.
There's also his role in the big-screen version of Snowpiercer. In that latter movie, he played Curtis, a citizen from the back to the train.
9 Hayley Atwell - The Duchess (2008)
Hayley Atwell had a major role in Captain America: The First Avenger as Peggy Carter, Steve's love interest. She did such a great job in that movie that she received a chance to revive the role in two seasons of Marvel's Agent Carter on ABC television.
Outside of the MCU, Atwell's biggest role came in the Kiera Knightley historical drama The Duchess. In that film, Atwell played Lady Elizabeth Foster, a close friend to Knightley's Georgiana Cavendish.
8 Sebastian Stan - The Martian (2015)
Sebastian Stan is one of the men carrying the torch for the departing Chris Evans. He plays Bucky Barnes, the man known as the Winter Solider. In the first movie, he made his first appearance as Bucky, was thought to be a villain in the second, and ended up a warrior in the Avengers battle with Thanos.
Outside of the MCU, fans can see him in Matt Damon's The Martian, where he plays Dr. Chris Beck, the flight surgeon for the Ares III mission.
7 Hugo Weaving - V For Vendetta (2005)
Hugo Weaving has been in some of cinema's greatest action franchises. In the MCU, he starred as Red Skull in Captain America: The First Avengers. However, he chose not to return when Red Skull came back in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
Outside of Marvel, he was Agent Smith in the Matrix movies and Elrond in The Lord of the Rings movies. He also appeared in another comic book movie, as V in the adaptation of Alan Moore and David Lloyd's V for Vendetta.
6 Neal McDonough - Arrow
Neal McDonough appeared in the first Captain America movie as Dum Dum Duggan, one of Cap's World War II allies in his squad of commandos. McDonough had a much more sinister role in comic book adaptations when it comes to the Arrowverse on The CW.
He appeared in Arrow as the villain Damien Darhk, a renegade member of the League of Assassins and the main bad guy in Season 4 of Arrow. He also appeared in DC's Legends of Tomorrow.
5 Dominic Cooper - Preacher
Dominic Cooper is one of two key people to play the role of Howard Stark in the MCU. He starred as Howard in Captain America: The First Avenger, where he played a major role in the storyline. John Slattery replaced him as the older version in later appearances.
Comic book fans will recognize Tony Stark's dad thanks to the Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon comic book adaptation Preacher. Cooper was the lead character there, playing Jesse Custer.
4 Anthony Mackie - Altered Carbon
Steve Rogers chose Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson as his heir apparent in Avengers: Endgame when he gave Wilson his shield and the chance to take his place as Captain America for the next generation. Whether or not he truly gets that chance won't be revealed until The Falcon and the Winter Soldier hits Disney+.
Fans of Mackie can see him in one of Netflix's top science fiction series. He took on the lead role of the new host of Takeshi "Tak" Kovacs in Season 2 of the series, replacing Joel Kinnaman, who played the same role in Season 1.
3 Emily VanCamp - Everwood
Emily VanCamp showed up for the first time in Captain America: The Winter Soldier as Peggy Carter's great-niece and the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent assigned to spy on Steve Rogers. She will return in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and it appears she will get a much more action-packed role.
Outside of the MCU, VanCamp was one of the leads in Everwood. She played Amy Abbott in the series for all four seasons.
2 Daniel Brühl - Inglourious Basterds
Daniel Brühl played the evil Baron Helmet Zemo, who had programmed Winter Soldier to work as his assassin. He will be back as one of the main bad guys in The Falcon and the Winter Solider on Disney+.
Away from the MCU, Brühl had another role as a foreign menace, as he started as a Nazi war hero in Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds. He played Fredrick Zoller, and the Nazi party made his war story into a propaganda film in the movie.
1 Frank Grillo - The Purge: Anarchy
Frank Grillo showed up in Captain America: The Winter Soldier as a traitor to S.H.I.E.L.D. and a member of Hydra. He then returned in Captain America: Civil War as Crossbones, a supervillain that Cap had to fight in that film's opening.
He is also a familiar face to fans of horror movies, as he starred in The Purge: Anarchy and its sequel The Purge: Election Year. His son died, and the drunk driver who killed him is acquitted, so he takes matters into his own hands during The Purge.
