EA Has An Unannounced Game Coming From Assassin's Creed Origins Actor

The EA Originals Label has inked a major deal to publish a brand-new IP from Silver Rain Games, a UK-based development studio co-founded by Assassin's Creed Origins actor Abubakar Salim. While Salim is well known for playing the part of AC Origins' protagonist Bayek in the franchise's 2017 entry, he's since gone on to star in HBO's new science fiction series, Raised by Wolves.

A lifelong gamer, Salim is not only making a name for himself with his acting prowess. In December of 2019, along with Head of Studio Melissa Phillips, the BAFTA-nominated actor and producer co-founded a game development company - Silver Rain Games. The chief goal of Silver Rain is to produce innovative and thought-provoking experiences across games and other mediums of entertainment. Since the group's inception over a year ago, Phillips and Salim have managed to assemble a rather sizable team of 20 developers. With support from EA Originals, EA's indie initiative that will soon release Josef Fares' next co-op adventure, Silver Rain is ready to begin the next phase of its endeavor.

Today, Electronic Arts announced its EA Originals Label has signed a "major deal" with the studio co-founded by AC Origins and Raised by Wolves star Abubakar Salim. EA Originals will lend funding and support to the up-and-coming team's unannounced IP, the publisher shared in a statement. Salim said in a statement of his own that Silver Rain has assembled a "worldly team" of developers who are eager to bring to life their unique global perspectives. He added, "together we will construct an exciting universe that unlocks the power of storytelling and the brilliance that brings."

It's not everyday that an actor from a fan-favorite game joins the industry as a developer. That Salim and his partners were able to grow their collective passion into a venture that led to Electronic Arts' involvement is nothing short of an incredible feat.

The EA Originals brand has elevated a number of fascinating indie projects since its establishment several years ago in 2016. Coldwood Interactive's Unravel and Unravel Two count as a couple of the more notable examples. A Way Out from the Josef Fares-founded Hazelight Studios represents another major title from the EA Originals label. Hazelight's next outing, It Takes Two, is slated to release later this month on March 26.
