Netflix's Ginny & Georgia centered around the mysterious background of Georgia Miller and how she tried escaping her past in the present in a new town. With her two kids, Ginny and Austin, in tow, the family of three get a fresh start in Wellsbury. While Georgia's con-artist past catches up to her, Ginny is trying hard to fit in with the other kids her age. For the first time in her life, Ginny was making friends and had not one, but two love interests.
As Ginny's neighbor, Marcus was one of the first people to meet Ginny. The two shared an instant, unspoken connection that ended in a first kiss. But as Ginny started making friends, Hunter was a nice, well-spoken young man who pined for her. By the end of the first season, Ginny was torn between her two loves, Hunter and Marcus. But which one was right for Ginny?
10 Marcus & Ginny Connected On A Deep Level
Considering how much of a loner Ginny considered herself, it was astounding that she connected with someone so quickly in Wellsbury.
Marcus was mysterious and a little off-putting, but the two clearly connected on a deeper level. As the series went on, they confided in each other about her battle with self-harm and his suicidal thoughts. The two have never spoken about it with anyone until meeting each other. It's rare to have a connection like that so quickly.
9 Hunter & Ginny Were Both Dedicated To School
Even though Ginny moved around a lot, she was a brilliant and well-read student. She joined AP English as soon as she started school in Wellsbury and took a pop quiz without studying what her class read.
Likewise, Hunter was equally enthralled with school. In one scene, Ginny was hanging out with everyone and wondered where Hunter was. His friends told her that he studies a lot and does extracurriculars at school to prepare for college. Being with someone who's just as dedicated to their schoolwork could have been a good influence on her.
8 Marcus & Ginny Were Drawn To Each Other From The Start
Just like Georgia's connection with Zion, it's hard to put out the flame between Marcus and Ginny. When there's that much passion and attention between two people, it's hard to deny it.
Even when Marcus and Ginny were rude to each other and were with other people, there was still so much tension between the two. No matter how much Ginny liked Hunter, she couldn't escape or deny Marcus.
7 Hunter Treated Ginny With Respect And Care
As passionate as Ginny and Marcus were, there was a level of respect missing between the two. This respect, however, was given to Ginny by Hunter. He didn't shy away from her troubles or her fears. In fact, he tried hard to get to know Ginny more.
In one embarrassing moment, Ginny tripped and dropped her tampon on Hunter's desk in the middle of class. Mortified, Ginny was hiding from him afterward, but he adorably approached her and gave her a bag of chips. He had a sister and knew what she liked to snack on when she was having her period. The gesture was sweet and proved that he was far more mature than most guys his age.
6 Marcus & Ginny Knew What It Was Like To Be Outcasts
As popular as Ginny was in her new school, she still felt like an outcast. It was hard to escape her past as the new girl. She never had friends or a boyfriend before, and she was afraid that she could lose it all.
Likewise, Marcus could get any girl he wanted, but he was still devastated after the loss of his best friend. The two of them opened up to each other like they never have with anyone else. As outcasts, they understood what no one else did.
5 Hunter Was Friends With All Of Ginny's Friends
It's always nice to be able to hang out with your friends and partner simultaneously. Georgia got lucky when her new friends were also best friends with a group of guys that included Hunter. Because of both groups being cordial with each other, Ginny never had to choose between her best friends and her boyfriend.
While Marcus and Max were twins, they weren't necessarily close. This would have caused a problem between Max and Ginny if Max knew Ginny liked him. And as fans know by the first season's finale, a rift came when Max found out about the love triangle between Ginny and the boys.
4 Marcus Doesn't Judge Ginny
The reason why Ginny felt so comfortable unleashing on Marcus is because he never judged her. From self-harm to being the new girl to hating her mother, Marcus listened to her words and didn't try to fix her. He let her know that he was there for her and that she wasn't alone.
Because of his nonjudgmental views on her, she felt comfortable enough to send him her first risqué picture. After sending the same picture to Hunter, she heard nothing. Marcus, on the other hand, responded quite positively.
3 Hunter Showed His Affection In Multiple Of Ways
Marcus didn't always know how to use his words, and to be fair, neither did Hunter. But Hunter found ways to express his feelings for Ginny when his words fell flat.
He coordinated a tap dance with other students for Ginny's birthday. He even wrote a song for her and performed it live. The song was such a hit that it gained thousands of views and likes on YouTube. Whenever Ginny felt left behind in her relationship with Hunter, he stepped it up with a grand gesture and made Ginny feel special.
2 Marcus & Ginny Were Comfortable With Each Other
It's not often that Ginny was comfortable around people. Even around her best friends and family, Ginny never really felt like she fit in. She loved being a part of MANG but was terrified her mysterious life would come back to ruin the friendship.
The only person in the series that Ginny could be herself around was Marcus. She was confident, vulnerable, honest, and incredibly raw with him. It was a different side of her that viewers didn't see with Hunter, Georgia, or MANG.
1 Hunter's Family Welcomed Ginny
Marcus's family didn't necessarily deny Ginny, but they never viewed her as anything other than their neighbor and Max's new friend. Hunter, on the other hand, introduced Ginny as his girlfriend and invited her to meet his parents at his house for dinner.
It was a first for Ginny, but it was an exciting moment in her life. She got to see how other families interacted and got to learn more about Hunter's personal life. For Ginny, it was a big deal to be welcomed into a home so warmly.
