Mandalorian's Cara Dune Funko Pop! Has Been Cancelled

The Mandalorian's Cara Dune Funko Pop! is being discontinued. Cara Dune was brought to life on screen in the Disney+ series by Gina Carano in 2019, but the actress and former mixed martial artist was recently fired by Lucasfilm as a result of some controversial social media posts. It now seems that her firing, which has subsequently led to the discontinuation of her character, is spreading to various Mandalorian merchandise giants.

It was announced in February that Carano would no longer be acting on The Mandalorian or working with Lucasfilm following her comments online. The former Mandalorian star was taking to social media to make transphobic remarks and to boost conspiracy theories about Jeffrey Epstein, Nazis and the Holocaust, voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election, and the effectiveness of masks in the fight against COVID-19. Shortly after her firing, companies that produce Cara Dune merchandise, such as Hasbro, started to announce that they were discontinuing action figures of the character.

According to user dis.pops on Instagram, the Cara Dune Funko Pop! is now being discontinued as well, as stated in an email from the retailer they ordered from, Entertainment Earth. Additionally, the email provided no explanation from the company as to why Funko was pulling the item.

Although the post explains that Funko provided no explanation as to why the Cara Dune figure was being discontinued, it can be assumed that the decision was a result of Carano's firing and the discontinuation of Cara Dune's character on The MandalorianBig collectible figure companies such as Funko pulling the character from their collections only solidifies the already-known fact that Dune is permanently departing from the show. It also makes a statement that the rhetoric spread by Carano goes against their own company values.

Carano has announced that she will be moving onto a project with The Daily Wire and thus distancing herself from Disney+, Lucasfilm, and Cara Dune. Despite Carano's blatant past errors and misinformed social media posts, the character Cara Dune will be remembered by fans of The Mandalorian for her badass combat skills and witty remarks. With some toys still in production, however, merchandising companies may just start to follow Funko's lead. Cara Dune toys and figures may just be the next big rare collectible item for Star Wars fans in the future that they should get their hands on if they have the chance.
