Summer House: Why Some Fans Aren't Happy That Carl Radke Quit Alcohol

Carl Radke from Summer House has been on the show since its inception, and while he often provided entertainment, he was frequently painted as the villain. Since he decided to quit drinking last year, he has become the show's den father. Some fans like the new Carl. Others just aren't happy with how he's changed.

Radke has changed a lot, and he shows off Carl 2.0 to his Summer House costars and viewers during the newest season. Last season, fans watched as Radke drank to excess, caused arguments with his closest friends, and blacked out at the end of boozy nights. The salesman realized he was not his true self when he was drunk and knew that he had to get sober. Fans and those close to him have rallied around him. Most fans enjoy watching the hunk live his best life without the help of alcohol.

Radke sat down and revealed that it has not been easy to travel the sober path. Many fans won't let him forget just how wild he was in previous seasons. Radke was one of the group's playboys, who left women high and dry, just like Luke Gulbranson, who was involved in a messy love triangle. Fans felt it was okay to lash out at Radke, even when he was just walking down the street. He told viewers he was called a “piece of sh*t," as fans can see in the video below:

Radke decided to stop drinking before the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic hit, which impacted Summer House filming. Radke then threw himself into a health journey. Bravo viewers have seen a bit of his routine since he wakes up at 7:30 am, makes his bed, exercises, and has a healthy breakfast. Season 5 filming started in the late summer of 2020, so Radke's been making changes for a while now.

He shared information about the shade he's received for allegedly being a bad guy: “When you get told that thousands of times over the course of five years, it takes a toll on you. So I’ve learned a lot by watching myself.” "Carlito," as die-hard fans like to call him, admitted that he is flawed with “a lot of problems.” He is making an effort to address those issues, which is changing his demeanor on the show and in IRL.

Viewers watched Radke’s heartbreak during the last episode. That was when he was told that his brother had passed away. The reality star revealed that his late brother had his demons and struggled with drug addiction, but had been sober for a year. The relapse hurt Radke since he had hoped to reconnect with his older brother, whom he'd emulated. Bravo fans are happy to see that Radke is putting himself first and hope that the trolls will be a bit gentler towards him in the future.
