WandaVision: The Main Characters' First And Last Lines

As the first MCU series to debut on Disney+, there was a lot of pressure for WandaVision to deliver. The show quickly proved it was something very different than what fans had seen in the MCU up until now while still delivering the superhero fun they had come to expect.

One of the best aspects of the show was how it was able to deal with the characters in a more in-depth way than the movies ever did. Supporting characters like Wanda and Vision were fleshed out into fascinating and complex characters while the supporting players in the show made their own impact. And a lot about what made these characters interesting can be seen through their dialogue.

10 Director Hayward

"Hey. You know who this is?" - "We're done here."

After returning from the Blip, Monica Rambeau returns to S.W.O.R.D. where Director Hayward welcomes her back. When Jimmy Woo tells Hayward the FBI will be arriving to stop him, Hayward dismisses him and has him detained.

The friendly and respectful greeting Hayward gives Monica no indication of the villain he will become. The fact that his last line is said while detaining one of the series' heroes shows how two-faced of a man Hayward really is.

9 Pietro Maximoff / Ralph Bohner

"Long lost bro get to squeeze his stinkin' sister to death or what?" - "Please, spare my life."

After arriving at Wanda's door, Ralph greets his supposed long-lost sister with a goofy sitcom delivery. After Monica removes the necklace that Agatha was using to control him, he reverts back to his old self and begs for mercy.

The shocking appearance of Evan Peters as Quicksilver is made even stranger by his first line, which sounds very unlike the Quicksilver who was in Avengers: Age of Ultron. His final line shows how powerful Agatha's magic was as Ralph is certainly no tough guy.

8 Billy

"Mommy? Daddy?" - "Mom, help!"

Shortly after having a set of twins, Wanda and Vision are startled to see Billy and Tommy have grown into boys as they greet their parents. After leaving Westview, Wanda uses the Darkhold book to search for her sons after losing them and hears them call out for help.

The fact that Billy and his brother are saying their first words hours after being born adds even more strangeness to this reality Wanda has created. The final line of him crying out for help from his mother suggests Wanda is going to do anything to find them again.

7 Tommy

"Mommy? Daddy?" - "Mom, please!"

Tommy shares his first line with his brother, Billy, as they greet their parents as inexplicably grown boys. Once again, Tommy shares a similar line as his brother calling out for his mother from someplace unknown.

The significance of these lines is the same as they were with Billy, but it is interesting to note that both their first and last lines are shared in this way. Seeing as Wanda created her sons, this could speak to how she valued her connection with her own twin brother, Pietro.

6 Jimmy Woo

"Wanda, can you read me?" - "All right, let's go."

While Wanda is inside Westview in a Bewitched-inspired setting, Agent Jimmy Woo attempts to contact her through the radio. Following the end of Wanda's spell, Jimmy is overseeing the clean-up, giving out orders to personnel.

Hearing Jimmy's voice calling out to Wanda through the radio is the first real sign of someone from the outside world interfering with Westview, which added to the mystery of the story. His final line as the authority figure shows how far Jimmy has come since being a bit of a goof in Ant-Man and the Wasp.

5 Darcy Lewis

"Hey. What's your field?" - "Have fun in prison."

As Darcy is being transported to the Westview observation base, she questions the others who are being transported with her. When Hayward tries to make his getaway, Darcy crashes her van into his truck, then taunts him with his inevitable prison sentence.

While being introduced back into the MCU, Darcy proves herself to be cleverer and more curious than she was in the Thor movies. Her final line shows that she still has that plucky sense of humor, no matter how else she has changed.

4 Monica Rambeau

"Say, those pants are peachy keen." - "Where?"

Wanda meets her fellow Westview neighbor Geraldine, who is actually Monica, when she compliments Wanda on her outfit in a very 1960s way. In the post-credit scene of the show, a Skrull visits Monica to tell her an old friend of her mother wants to meet. When Monica asks where, the Skrull points up.

The very outdated and silly first line is quite out of character for Monica when she is properly introduced later. which shows how powerful Wanda's spell is. Her line in the post-credit scene teases her journey into space, setting up her role in Captain Marvel 2.

3 Agatha Harkness

"Hello dear, I'm Agnes, you're neighbor to the right." - "Not if I see you first, hon."

In the first episode, Agatha disguised as Agnes comes over to greet Wanda and Vision as the new neighbors in town. After Wanda returns Agatha to her Agnes persona, she says she'll see Wanda again in her typical cheery, neighborly way.

With her first line, Agatha presents herself as the typical nosy neighbor from sitcoms while also inviting herself into the home, showing her control of the situation. Though she is seemingly trapped as Agnes in the end, her final line might hint that she will return and is still a threat.

2 Vision

"My wife and her flying saucers." - "So long, darling."

As Vision walks into the kitchen in the first episode, he is struck on the head by a plate Wanda is causing to fly. When Wanda dismantles Westview, Vision bids farewell to her yet again.

The fact that Vision's first line is a corny sitcom line which is accompanied by laughter from the studio audience sets the tone for this very different MCU project. His final line is a heartbreaking goodbye delivered with Vision's typical stoicism while also suggesting they might meet again.

1 Wanda Maximoff

"My husband and his indestructible head." - "Goodbye Monica."

After Wanda hits Vision in the head with a flying plate, she remarks that his head is not like most husbands' heads. After Westview is dismantled, Wanda says goodbye to Monica before leaving.

The fact that Wanda last saw Vision when his indestructible head was caved in by Thanos could hint that she is using this false reality to escape her past tragedies. Her final line isn't too significant, but Elizabeth Olsen delivers it with a mixture of anger, guilt, and sadness.
