5 PlayStation Exclusives That Have Been Ported To PC (And 5 That Should Be)

In the so-called "Console War" between Sony's PlayStation and Microsoft's Xbox consoles, a term that is often used extensively is "console exclusive."While most Xbox games are ported for PC, PC gamers have often missed out on some great PlayStation games, whether it has been PS3 Exclusives such as Demon's Souls or the more recent PS4 games such as Insomniac's Spider-Man.

This seems to be changing, however, as, just last year in 2020, Sony decided to port the critically acclaimed PS4 exclusive Horizon Zero Dawn to PC much to the delight of gamers who have been wanting to play Sony's PS Exclusives. While quite a few PlayStation games have already received PC ports, Sony's CEO Jim Ryan revealed that Sony is looking to port even more PlayStation games to PC.

10 Already Ported: Detroit: Become Human

Quantic Dream's Detroit: Become Human was released for the PS4 in May 2018 and was ported to Windows just over a year later in December 2019. The PC port was not without its issues, including framerate drops and minor bugs, but it was generally considered to be a great way to experience the game.

Detroit also features multiple branching storylines and player choices and their effects in-game, with excellent voice acting and visuals. The game was also praised for its story and setting and was a critical and commercial success, with more than five million copies sold. It was one of the first famous PS Exclusives to be ported to PC, paving the way for future exclusives to launch on PC.

9 Should be Ported: Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection

It has been five years since Nathan Drake's story ended with Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, and now is an excellent time for Sony to release The Nathan Drake Collection for PC. The Uncharted series was one of the highest-selling console exclusives of all time and one of the highest-rated video games of all time.

Although the first three games were released for the PS3, they were remastered with better graphics and gameplay enhancements for the PS4, so a potential PC port wouldn't look or feel dated, either. If rumors are true and another Uncharted sequel is on the way, such a PC port would create massive hype for it.

8 Already Ported: Death Stranding

When Hideo Kojima split with Konami and announced Death Stranding, a PS4 exclusive, PlayStation fans couldn't have been more excited. Hideo Kojima is one of the most respected game designers and storytellers in the video games medium, and the hype for Death Stranding was already monumental when it was announced.

The game was released in 2019 to generally favorable reviews, although many did criticize the gameplay and story. PC fans were overjoyed when a Windows port was announced, which released in July 2020.

7 Should be Ported: inFamous: Second Son

The inFamous series is another beloved PlayStation exclusive which PC fans are dying to play. Though they've definitely aged over the years and we're not sure how effectively the controls could be translated to a mouse and keyboard, PC players would nonetheless love to get a chance to experience this unique Sony series.

Released in 2014, inFamous: Second Son had one of the best graphics and visuals of that time, and it still looks excellent even compared to today's standards. Sucker Punch Studios recently released Ghost of Tsushima, and, if Sony is planning on releasing a sequel for the inFamous series, what better way to create hype for the series than releasing a PC port for one of the best games in the series?

6 Already Ported: Days Gone

Days Gone was released as a console exclusive for the PS4 in 2019, after multiple delays. Set two years after the start of a global pandemic—a setting that's just a little too familiar these days—the story features Deacon St. John, an everyman on a quest to find his wife in a post-apocalyptic society.

Sony CEO Jim Ryan announced that the company wanted to release "a whole-slate" of SIE games for PC, starting with Days Gone for PC, which would be released in Spring 2021. Even though the game received mixed reviews, PC fans are excited about the launch, not only to play the game, but also because it will pave the way for more exclusives to receive PC ports in the near future.

5 Should be Ported: Bloodborne

After multiple successful games such as Demon's Souls and the Dark Souls series, FromSoftware had become infamous in the gaming community for creating the "Souls-like" genre—games with in-depth combat systems and notoriously difficult gameplay setpieces. Getting through this game was—and still is—considered to be quite the achievement.

When Bloodborne was announced as a PS4 exclusive, PC Gamers and fans of Souls-like games were disappointed that the game wouldn't be available to them. However, now might be the perfect time to port Bloodborne to the PC, as it is quite an old game at this point that probably doesn't bring in a lot of revenue—Bloodborne came out in 2015—and would create hype for FromSoftware's upcoming game, Elden Ring.

4 Already Ported: Beyond: Two Souls

Beyond: Two Souls is a PS3 game from 2013 that was remastered for the PS4 in 2015. It features Jodie Holmes, who is linked to an entity named Aiden. The game follows Jodie throughout her adolescence as she learns to control not only her superpowers, but Aiden, as well. The game was ported to PC in July 2019.

Despite its unique premise, engaging story, and excellent voice acting and motion capture, Beyond: Two Souls received a somewhat lukewarm response upon release. While some praised it for trying to experiment and push the limits of the video game medium, others criticized it for its relatively hands-off approach to gameplay.

3 Should be Ported: God of War 3: Remastered

The God of War Series took the PlayStation 2 to new heights. The series contains not only one of the best PS2 games of all time, but also some of the best video games ever made. Kratos' story—at least the Greek era—ended with 2013's God of War III, launched for the PS3. Since then, God of War III has also been ported to the PS4.

Since this part of the franchise has ended many years ago, it would be a good idea for Sony to release God of War III Remastered for PC. This would finally enable them to play this masterpiece and create hype for the upcoming God of War: Ragnarok.

2 Already Ported: Horizon Zero Dawn

Horizon: Zero Dawn was one of the most awaited PS4 Exclusives, and Guerrilla Games didn't disappoint. The game released in 2017 to a stellar critical reception, with many critics praising the gameplay, story, and premise. In March 2020, it was announced that the game would be ported for PC in August 2020.

As with all PC Ports, the game had its fair share of bugs, but nothing majorly annoying or game-breaking. The port was undoubtedly done to persuade PC Gamers to purchase the PS5, on which the sequel, Horizon: Forbidden West, will be releasing.

1 Should be Ported: The Last of Us: Part I

When The Last of Us launched on the PS3 all the way back in 2013, it shattered not only expectations but also records. The game was a near-unanimous choice for Game of the Year in the same year GTAV and Bioshock: Infinite released. The Last of Us Part I was remastered for the PS4 with better graphics and lighting, and minor gameplay tweaks.

Naughty Dog released The Last of Us: Part II in 2020, and, while the story divided fans and critics, it was considered a good game by just as many. If the studio decides to go forward with a third game, porting the first game on PC would be the perfect way to create hype and let PC gamers finally experience the masterpiece.
