After years of public and toxic relationships, Jersey Shore star Ronnie Ortiz-Magro revealed his latest romance on Instagram back in October. Ronnie is currently dating 30-year-old Staten Island native Saffire Matos. While fans still do not know much about Saffire, they fear their relationship will head down the same path as Ronnie's past partnerships.
While Ronnie's dating history may be smaller than that of his roommates, the drama and controversial incidents that came along with his exes are quite lengthy. Longtime Jersey Shore viewers remember his never-ending love-hate relationship with co-star Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola. Throughout all six seasons of the original show, Ronnie and Sam had a cycle of dating and breaking up. Then, when Ronnie returned for the show's spinoff series, he was in yet another toxic relationship with his baby mama, Jen Harley. They too have had their fair share of controversies, some of which even included arrests and criminal charges.
The last bit of public drama between Ronnie and Jen took place around May 2020. At the time, Ronnie's domestic violence case with Jen finally came to an end after he was able to negotiate a plea deal, ultimately avoiding jail time. Since then, the two have worked to peacefully co-parent their daughter, leaving his roommates quite happy for him. Seven months after the plea deal, Ronnie made his new relationship with Saffire Instagram official by sharing photos of their trip to Puerto Rico. While it is unclear when the two officially began to date, Ronnie at the time revealed in the comments they had already been together for eight months prior to posting the photos.
Dating back eight months from the October 2020 post would land the start of their relationship around February 2020. If Ronnie and Saffire did start dating in February, Saffire was around for some of the legal drama between Ronnie and Jen. This could be why they kept their relationship on the down-low for many months. When they first started dating, fans feared Ronnie's new relationship would be similar to those of his past. However, to their surprise, Ronnie looked to be quite happy with his new girlfriend. He and Saffire constantly posted videos and photos of each on their respective Instagram stories. Saffire even called him her "future hubby."
Many of Ronnie's fellow Jersey Shore stars were happy he was finally in a healthy relationship. While all seemed good at first, rumors began to swirl that two had broken up back in February of this year. Ronnie and Saffire stopped posting about each other on social media. They did not post anything for Valentine's Day, nor was Ronnie liking or commenting on her posts. It is still unclear why the couple took some time away from each other online.
Now, Ronnie and Saffire seem really happy again. They continue to constantly post photos and videos together. Saffire is also very close with Ronnie's daughter. She spends much time with the daddy-daughter duo. Things must be serious between the two, as Ronnie is set to introduce Saffire to his roomies on the upcoming season of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation. The cast just wrapped up filming the season, but a premiere date has yet to be announced. It is assumed it will air sometime in the spring.
