Oscars 2021 Complete Winners List | Screen Rant

The 2021 Oscar winners have been officially announced by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. This past year was obviously quite unprecedented for everyone, including the film industry.  Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the 2020 movie release calendar was thrown into a state of flux as a majority of theaters spent most of the year closed. Several highly anticipated titles were delayed, and even though there are optimistic signs (more theaters reopening and expanding capacity, the distribution of COVID-19 vaccines, etc.), there's still a long way to go to get back to the pre-pandemic normal.

Despite the tumultuous year, Hollywood was still able to deliver a number of critically acclaimed films that left an impression on audiences. Unsurprisingly, given the state of traditional moviegoing in 2020, a number of this year's Oscar nominees were streaming films, giving premier services like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu the inside track at Academy Awards glory. Even though these movies were widely available to the general public during awards season, audiences were still unaware about most of the nominees - raising concern about the Oscar broadcast ratings. This year's presumptive Best Picture favorite, Nomadland, had only a 35% awareness score.
