Valheim Raft Luge Takes Player From Mountaintop To the Ocean

Without the help of mods, a group of friends managed to build a raft luge in Valheim that begins on a mountaintop and ends at sea. In the nearly three months since its release on Steam Early Access, Iron Gate's hit survival title has accomplished quite a few major feats. Within just one month of launch, Valheim managed to sell five million units. It's since surpassed a milestone of six million copies sold.

One of the main attractions seems to stem from the game's impressive tools and building mechanics, which have allowed players to pursue all manner of creative endeavors. From iconic Star Wars vehicles to notable settings in other games, user-made creations in Valheim regularly make the rounds online. More original ideas, such as settlement designs and the like, go viral every so often, too. And some constructs prove functional, too, acting as more than just another place for a Viking to lay their head down. For example, one Valheim player created a functional boat sledding ramp, though things didn't exactly end as intended. Someone else recently had better luck with a similar idea.

Reddit user okayshima_ shared a 90-second clip of a raft luge ride they took down an incredibly long ramp in Valheim. Partway through the video, the raft even jumps through a large hoop. The ramp itself starts at the top of a mountain; the ride to the bottom, which ends in the ocean, is a wild and bumpy one. According to the Redditor, the build was constructed over the course of two weeks with other players on a dedicated server, though they aren't clear how long it took to complete in terms of hours spent. Interestingly, no Valheim mods were employed for this particular design.

Needless to say, the effort required to complete such an undertaking warrants endless applause. And that the ride down the ramp is actually successful, and doesn't end in catastrophe, deserves praise as well. As time goes on, player creations are bound to become even more sophisticated, especially once developer Iron Gate releases Valheim's Hearth and Home update.

Previously, the studio announced the update will introduce more home building mechanics, along with additions that give players extra things to do around the house. While release details for the update have yet to go live, Iron Gate continues to tease Hearth and Home and all it may entail.
