When Mike Youngquist’s mom, Trish Youngquist, is not busy trying to make Natalie Mordovtseva eat butter on 90 Day Fiancé, she worries over how to send her daughter-in-law back to Ukraine. A minor inconvenience for Natalie in season eight, Trish might become the Debbie Johnson to Natalie’s Larissa Lima in 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? The trailer for season six has shown Natalie implying Trish calls her a hooker, and current episodes have Natalie worrying about the events that will unfold at Thanksgiving. But before Natalie meets Trish in person again, here’s a look at everything we know about Mike’s mom.
On season eight of 90 Day Fiancé, Trish first came to Mike and Natalie's Sequim trailer when Natalie had 65 days left on her K-1 visa and the couple was fresh off the “low IQ, low class” fight. Mike was happy about Natalie meeting his mom for the first time, but was also nervous because she knew about the ring tossing drama of season 7. Natalie said “Mike talks to mom a lot” about their “private” lives, as he described Trish as a “very strong and smart individual who can sometimes be hardheaded.” Natalie worried about Trish being “not sentimental” when Mike explained some of his mother's personality to her. However, when Natalie spent the weekend with Mike’s mom, she expressed, “I like having Trish around because Mike is nicer to me.”
Little did Natalie know Trish did not share her sentiments as, after their infamous dinner scene where she advocated that butter is good for the mind, Mike’s mother exclaimed that, due to the couple’s many problems, their marriage “wouldn’t work out in the long run.” But Natalie had, by then, seemed super impressed with Trish, even calling her the “magic button to Mike’s heart” and feeling “sad” when her mother-in-law left. However, Trish confessed during the 90 Day Fiancé season eight Tell-All that her son had confided in her that he would be calling the wedding off. The confession came as a surprise to Natalie, and Trish went on to reveal Mike had plans of giving Natalie money and buying a ticket to Ukraine three days before he canceled the wedding.
Trish also admitted she was upset when Natalie returned from Seattle and Mike was suddenly ready to marry her again. That’s when Trish called Tamara and asked her to stand up at the wedding and object. “Why would you want to see two people get married when it’s such a mess?” the 90 Day Fiancé mom confessed, calling Mike and Natalie’s relationship, a “total disaster” and “sketchy.” Back then, Mike revealed he was angry and had mixed feelings about his mom’s actions. While engaging in a verbal tussle with 90 Day Fiancé cast member Rebecca Parrott, Trish argued Natalie had come to the US and tried to change “who is he is and what he does” in regards to Mike, which she wasn’t thrilled about.
The 90 Day Fiancé Tell-All was filmed sometime in February 2021, and the events unfolding on 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? season six started in November 2020. So, what transpires between Natalie and Trish leading up to rumors of her recent separation from Mike will be worth a watch. On social media, Trish, who, as Mike said, grew up on a farm, appears to be a private person. An update shows she studied and stayed in Salinas, California before moving to Tulsa. Mike and Natalie will reunite with Trish on episode five after a particularly intense phone call where Trish promised her son she’ll be “on her best behavior.” In all likelihood, both Natalie and Trish will be butting heads on 90 Day Fiancé soon, giving fans plenty of predictable family drama to look out for.
90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? airs Sundays at 8 pm ET on TLC.
